Please take a minute to say a prayer for one of our officers that was shot and is in critical condition. He and his family need our support now.
Police officer in critical condition after shooting
A 30-year-old Milwaukee police officer was shot Saturday in a confrontation with a man whom he had been chasing on the near south side. The officer, a seven-year veteran who is assigned to the Sixth District, and the suspect both were in critical condition at Froedtert Hospital. Both men had been shot multiple times, police spokeswoman Anne E. Schwartz said. The incident took place shortly after 3 p.m. in the 1300 block of S. 36th St.
Schwartz said police were responding to a report of a man with a gun.
The man then got into a car with a woman and an infant. When police stopped the car, the man got out and ran.
The officer who chased him on foot was shot between two houses. Several other officers also had responded to the call.
“The entire incident took about seven minutes,” Schwartz said. “It happened very quickly.”
Schwartz said the suspect was in police custody at the hospital on charge of attempted homicide.

Great news!
Alderman Bob Donovan said it best, “The assailant, as far as I’m concerned, can go to hell!”

“The man then got into a car with a woman and an infant” He probably wanted to use the child as a shield. Can you imagine growing up with parents like this?

I may have missed something in all the reporting of this incident, but has anybody seen or heard the reaction of Chief Ed Flynn yet? Usually it is reported if the Chief is out of town and unavailable for comment.

Exactly. Why was this criminal still on the streets? It’s a question that gets asked over and over again, and yet there doesn’t seem to be any accountability for the violent felons in our communities.
THANK GOD the police officer will be okay.

I’m glad the officer is ok. I hope the dead beat expires quickly so I am not on the hook for additional medical expenses. Happy Easter.

Glenn,
The Chief is on vacation, out of the country, with his family.

I heard the Chief went to Virginia for the holiday weekend.

Thanks. He deserves to take vacations too. I’m sure he’d prefer to be here at this time. It just seemed odd that the media gave no explanation for his absence. Hopefully the Officer will make a speedy and complete recovery and his family as well.

Does anyone know the Officer’s name? Would like to send something comforting to him and his family.

The officer is doing good considering the circumtances. I visited him today and he is in good spirits. I bet the Chief is out of town/vacation looking for a better job.
