Brian Fraley has the details, but the short story is, earlier this morning, The Slumlord (County Board Chair Lee Holloway) and Supervisor Gerry Broderick have slipped in a pay increase for the board, something they have tried to do in the past. We need to put an end to this last minute attempt by the already bloated and under-worked county board.
You can find phone numbers at Fraley’s or at my County Board Contact List.

Big surprise… NOT.
Panel backs raises for county supervisors

All is not lost.
The number at the switchboard at the County board is 414-278-4222. Politely give them your address and ask to be transferred to your Supervisor (you’ll likely get an aide or voice mail).
You can request that your supervisor: 1) Please vote no on the pay raise amendment. 2) If the pay raise is a part of the budget, vote no on the budget.
This was a sneaky, but not surprising move on their part. But its not a done deal. Pin your supervisor down.
Unless, of course, you think they deserve a $156/mo. raise…

IF they were really a full time board, I MIGHT be ok with the raise. But they are NOT. $50K+ benefits (remember, many of these are the supervisors that voted for the sweet pension deals) is MORE than sufficient for their pay.
It’s a slimy move by Holloway and his band of thieving supervisors.
Walker will veto if it gets that far, but it shouldn’t get that far!

Aw come on. They need the raise to offset the new taxes we’ll all be paying. Don’t you all understand this?

Part of the problem though is the apathy. No one ever runs against these guys. Look at Sup. Nicklewicz – he’s had that job for years and years and now it’s to the point where he literally doesn’t walk into the office for months on end. I’ve emailed him on several issues and don’t even get a generic “thanks for your email” acknowledgement, nevermind an actual answer. But no one ever runs against him. And he’s just one.

I don’t always agree with Lynn DeBruin (my supervisor) but I do have to say that she (or her office) is always quick to respond to my emails/phone calls.
And she’s right on this issue…per her legislative assistant: Supervisor DeBruin does NOT support a pay raise and will not be voting for one.

You know, I actually come here for my real news…

Sup. Rice responded almost within a HALF HOUR of my email to him….that’s RESPONSE
And it was a positive one too, tho Fraley didn’t seem too keen on it….(I posted the text of it most of it on Fraley’s post)….

Isn’t he up for re-election soon?

ALL the supervisors are up for election in April. Time to replace a few of them.

Hey Pete, sounds like you need a new home, I know this isn’t the first problem with them. When you look for a new web host, look into http://siteground.com They give tons of space and bandwidth and the service has been decent.
