It sucks to be Jim Doyle because:

Tuesday, January 31st, 2006

It sucks to be Jim Doyle, because:

  • My administration is the subject of a Federal Grand Jury, and that pesky Steve Biskupic seems to dislike corruption in public office.
  • I was in Iraq when Georgia Thompson was indicted, and I didn’t want to come home.
  • People keep asking if I have hired a criminal defense lawyer yet. A question I have yet to answer.
  • Patrick Farley and/or Marc Marotta are probably next on the U.S. Attorneys list.
  • Attorney General Peg Lautenschlager and Dane County District Attorney Brian Blanchard, both Democrats are assisting in the Travelgate investigation.
  • I am being proven to be a fraud on the School Choice issue.
  • E. Michael McCann has discovered that there is corruption in government, and he is pro school choice.
  • Cory Nettles has been outed as a fraud.
  • I canceled the Adelman Travel contract, but they want the $20,000 back too?
  • My campaign manager is being connected in the caucus scandal.

We all know there are more reasons, feel free to leave a comment and add to the list.

Doyle’s campaign manager & the caucus scandal

Doyle’s campaign manager is being connected in the caucus scandal.

Check Sykes Writes for details, but I think we can add this as another item on the “It must suck to be Jim Doyle because:” list

I guess Good News is subjective

Tuesday, January 31st, 2006

Sadly, a friend sent this to me with a subject line of “GOOD NEWS DAILY”. Partial birth abortion is a barbaric act against an innocent, defenseless baby, but many are so invested in abortion that even infanticide must be defended.

BREITBART.COM - Appeals Courts Uphold Abortion Finding
Two federal appeals courts on opposite sides of the country declared the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act unconstitutional Tuesday, saying the measure lacks an exception for cases in which a woman’s health is at stake.

The first ruling came from a three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Hours later, a three-judge panel of the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan issued a similar decision in a 2-1 ruling.

The New York decision affirmed a 2004 ruling by a judge who upheld the right to perform the procedure even as he described the procedure as “gruesome, brutal, barbaric and uncivilized.”

Tuesday’s ruling was marked by an unusually sharp dissent by Judge Chester J. Straub, who said he believed Congress’ determination that the procedure was never medically necessary to protect a women’s health was well founded and supported by a lower court ruling.

“Allowing a physician to destroy a child as long as one toe remains within the mother would place society on the path towards condoning infanticide,” he said.

Cindy Sheehan “detained”

Tuesday, January 31st, 2006

Cindy Sheehan was invited to the State of the Union speech tonight, but when she got there she started unrolling flags and banners and was removed and “detained” by Capitol Police… What a loser.

BREITBART.COM - Activist Cindy Sheehan Arrested at Capitol
Cindy Sheehan, the mother of a fallen soldier in Iraq who reinvigorated the anti-war movement, was taken into custody by police in the House gallery Tuesday night just before President Bush’s State of the Union address.

Police escorted Sheehan from the visitors’ gallery above the House chamber after causing a disruption, said a Capitol Police official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because details of the incident were sketchy.

Rep. Lynn Woolsey, D-Calif., had invited Sheehan to the address as her guest.

An excellent addition to the County Ethics Board

Tuesday, January 31st, 2006

I know some people (Liberals) will have problems with this, but the fact is that Don Uebelacker has a proven track record for demanding responsibility from our public officials, I like the choice!

JS Online: DayWatch
After repeatedly questioning whether he could be impartial, a Milwaukee County Board committee voted 5-1 today to recommend adding the founder of Citizens for Responsible Government to the county’s Ethics Board.

If confirmed by the full County Board on Thursday, Don Uebelacker would join the Ethics Board at a particularly critical time, as the ethics panel prosecutes County Board Chairman Lee Holloway on 90 civil counts accusing him of violating the county’s ethics code. If Holloway is found guilty by the county’s Personnel Review Board, the Ethics Board would recommend his penalty, which could include asking the County Board to remove him from office.

A profile in courage… BULL!

Tuesday, January 31st, 2006

Representatives John P. Steinbrink ( - Pleasant Prairie) and
Terry Van Akkeren ( - Sheboygan) both knuckled under to Jim Doyle’s pressure, showing their lack of backbone and snubbing their noses at their voters. as they changed their vote to prevent an override of Jim Doyle’s veto of a bill that would have brought us in line with 47 other states. If anyone living in their districts knows if either are being opposed in the next election, I would love to know so I can start supporting them now. If they don’t have opponents yet, this is a chance for the GOP to pick up two seats!

Ouch, the truth hurts

Ethanol Mandate interview with Neal Kedzie

Tuesday, January 31st, 2006

Earlier today, Sen. Neal Kedzie was the only Republican on the state Senate Committee on Agriculture, and Insurance to vote against allowing the state government to force citizens to buy gas with added ethanol, a proven poor fuel. Please listen to this excellent interview he did with Jeff Wagner today after the vote. Kedzie has a lot of facts that people need to know.

Jeff Wagner & Neal Kedzie on the Ethanol Mandate.

Note: If you live in Senator Kedzie’s district (11th), consider giving him a call to thank him for standing up for the voters of Wisconsin. Many of us will call our legislators when we have something to complain about, but we should do better about thanking them as well.

Ethanol Mandate passes committee

Tuesday, January 31st, 2006

The State Senate Committee on Agriculture, and Insurance has passed the mandate that would force everyone in Wisconsin use reformulated gas, a proven poor fuel that damages engines. I don’t have a breakdown, but I do know Neil Kedzie voted against this expansion of government power, he was the only Republican that did.

Kedzie has just posted this press release:

Sen. Kedzie: Takes First Vote Against Ethanol Mandate
State Senator Neal Kedzie (R-Elkhorn) says he is disappointed that a bill forcing ethanol on Wisconsin residents has passed the Senate Agriculture and Insurance Committee. Kedzie explained, “Simply put, this is not sound public policy. This measure is incredibly flawed beginning with the premise of a mandate forcing a product on Wisconsin consumers. In addition, this proposal is a double edged sword, as ethanol has potential negative environmental impacts, which could have serious consequences for our state’s existing industries.”

According to Kedzie, a government mandate of any product runs counter to our free market economy. He added that ethanol, or any other product should either succeed or fail based on its merit in the marketplace, rather than by being forced upon residents by an over-reaching government. Kedzie noted that if Wisconsin consumers want ethanol, they will choose to purchase it.

As Chair of the Senate Natural Resources and Transportation Committee, Kedzie has expressed concerns that the mandate will be detrimental to existing air quality problems in southeast Wisconsin. Kedzie pointed to a Department of Natural Resources (DNR) study that demonstrates that the ethanol mandate will increase pollution twice as much as the NOx decrease of the current motor vehicle inspections and maintenance (M&I) program in Southeast Wisconsin. Kedzie stated, “When this occurs the federal government will step in and impose costly clean-up procedures on business. We cannot afford to chase away Wisconsin’s manufacturing base nor the good paying jobs that go with that sector unless we want to see another significant economic downturn in the state.”

The committee voted 4-2 to recommend passage of Assembly Bill 15 (AB 15). Kedzie was the only Republican on the Committee to vote against the bill. He noted he is hopeful the mandate will not pass the full Senate if scheduled for a vote.

Phone calls people!

Kedzie is on the air with Jeff Wagner. I don’t have time to post the audio now, but check back after 6 p.m. I will post is as soon as I get home!

He’s Justice Alito now

Tuesday, January 31st, 2006

Congratulations Justice Alito!

FOXNews.com - Politics News - Alito Confirmed as Nation’s 110th Supreme Court Justice
The Senate voted 58-42 on Tuesday to confirm Samuel Alito to the nation’s highest court, putting to bed the most partisan Supreme Court nomination battle in recent memory.

Only four Democrats joined 54 Republicans in support of Alito. Of the court’s present justices, only Clarence Thomas received a slimmer margin of victory, 52-48, but even then received the votes of 11 Democrats who broke party ranks.

Reporter / Blogger Fired

Tuesday, January 31st, 2006

A friend in the MSM passed this along to me, there should be audio later today, but a Reporter for a Delaware paper was fired when his bosses discovered that he was a Blogger and made some satirical posts. He admits that some posts were rude, but that doesn’t make it wrong.

delawareonline ¦ The News Journal ¦ Reporter fired for blog posts
A reporter for the weekly Dover Post newspaper was fired Monday for offensive comments made on his personal weblog.

Matt Donegan, a copy editor and reporter for the newspaper, was fired by Dover Post Editor Don Flood after a reader reported the blog entries to Sussex County radio talk-show host Dan Gaffney.

A producer for Gaffney’s show called Flood on Monday to inform him about the blog, and Gaffney aired some of the comments on his show.
