McKinney is a disgrace (Update Below)

Friday, March 31st, 2006

I didn’t mention it the other day when it happened, but I’m sure you heard about Representative Cynthia McKinney’s incident where she punched a police officer that had stopped her from entering the building.

Members of Congress wear a special pin and it allows them to bypass the security checkpoint. A few days ago, McKinney walked past the checkpoint and was not rearing her pin, an officer tried to stop her, she ignored his request to stop and when he grabbed her arm, she punched him.

Apparently she believes that the officers are supposed to recognize here, news reports say many do, as she regularly does not wear her security pin. But since there are 535 members of Congress, is it realistic that each officer would recognize every member?

The reason I bring this up today is McKinney is now playing the race card and going on the attack. Her lawyer now says:

“Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, like thousands of average Americans across this country, is, too, a victim of the excessive use of force by law enforcement officials because of how she looks and the color of her skin.”

“Ms. McKinney is just a victim of being in Congress while black,” Myart said. “Congresswoman McKinney will be exonerated.”

I find it disgusting that this woman who was clearly in the wrong, is accusing this officer, who’s job, is to die to protect her if necessary, of being a racist.

UPDATE: More on McKinney track record

CNN had some interesting info on McKinney’s background. The Congresswomen has been involved in at least 5 incidents since 1993, all about her treatment at the entrances of secured buildings. She also once complained that she needed to be approved at the entrance of the White House, by “white people”.

In this incident, she claims that it “was instigated by the inappropriate touching and stopping of me, a female, black, congresswomen.” It didn’t have anything to do with the fact that witnesses say that she refused repeated requests to stop to check her credentials since she wasn’t wearing the pin that would have identified her as someone that was exempt from the security screening.

Perhaps Ms. McKinney needs to look in the mirror to find the core root to her problems.

No more A.O.Smith in Milwaukee

Friday, March 31st, 2006

This is a sad day for many in Milwaukee. The huge A.O.Smith plant that employed so many Milwaukee residents for so many decades has closed for good. My father retired from there a few years ago, as did an uncle and grandfather as well as many family friends.

JS Online:Tower Automotive plant reaches end of the line
Eddie Ballard left tiny Shuqualak, Miss., for Milwaukee at age 18.

It was 1965. His father, already here, had told him good jobs were to be had at one of the city’s booming manufacturers, the A.O. Smith Corp. Ballard’s father worked there, alongside close to 9,000 other people. Before long, Ballard was among them.

Thursday morning, after almost 41 years on the job - nearly 40 of them spent loading truck frames onto railroad cars - Ballard was one of just 65 production workers left as Tower Automotive, which bought A.O. Smith’s sprawling complex in 1997, turned out its last frame here and shut its factory doors for good.

I know Tower bought the company, but around here, it was always A.O.Smith.

Two teens arrested in Raheim Patrick murder

Friday, March 31st, 2006

Raheim Patrick was the boy beaten to death outside of his school on 1st. & Center several days ago. Two teenagers 15 & 16 have been arrested. I hope they lead police to the rest of the gang and maybe we can learn why something like this happened.

One year ago, after 13 day of court sponsored torture…

Friday, March 31st, 2006

One year ago today a woman succumbed to her 13 days of court sponsored torture.

Today marks the one year anniversary of the death of Terri Schiavo. This marks a day that America’s judicial system decided that the murder of our disabled was not a crime. Not just death, but the slow death that comes with starvation and dehydration.

Okay, where is the rain?

Friday, March 31st, 2006

So where is all the rain they have been talking about for Milwaukee? We were supposed to have thunderstorms last night… But not a drop.

I suspect that MMSD began pumping raw sewage into the lake in anticipation of the one hundred year flood that he get about a dozen times each year…

BTW, The pumped 800,000 gallons the other day when there wasn’t even a hint of rain, so why not today.

Harrison Ford is a huge fan of Badger Blogger

Thursday, March 30th, 2006

Harrison Ford is a huge fan of Badger Blogger. Well, actually…

HARRISON FORD - FORD I HATE THE INTERNET
HARRISON FORD hates the internet, because it means anyone can spread malicious gossip about him. The actor, who plays a computer-security specialist in his latest film FIREWALL, sees a need to censor his words to avoid being misrepresented online. He says, “The worst thing about the internet is that anything and everything is up for grabs. How can that be, when I limit my public conversations to about once every couple of years? “Any kind of rubbish goes on the internet and it can have a f**king life of its own.”

So I guess he probably doesn’t read my blog, huh?

Wisconsin and Illinois are the only two states that don’t trust its citizens

Thursday, March 30th, 2006

Congratulation to Nebraska. This leaves Wisconsin and Illinois as the only two states in the entire nation that doesn’t allow it’s citizens to protect them selves.

KETV.com - News Archive - Concealed-Weapons Bill Adopted
Nebraska lawmakers have passed a measure to allow Nebraskans to carry concealed weapons.

The measure is expected to be signed by Gov. Dave Heineman, which would make Nebraska the 48th state that allows people to pack hidden guns in some fashion. It would take effect on Jan. 1, 2007. Residents would have to complete training, pass a background check and pay a $100 permit fee. Concealed weapons will still be prohibited in schools, athletic events, churches, hospitals, bars, banks and anywhere else business owners don’t want them.

Pedro Colón uses his position to pressure businesses to rehire fired Latinos

Thursday, March 30th, 2006

Just a quick comment on something I heard on Mark Belling’s show today. I didn’t hear much of it, but what I did hear needs commen.

Rep. Pedro Colón (Democrat-Milwaukee) is coming to the defense of a number of people that were fired after their walked off of their jobs last week during the “Day Without Latinos” protest in Milwaukee. These people walked off of their jobs for a political reason and should have been fired, what they did was essentially an unauthorized strike. Pedro Colón is circulating a letter around the legislature trying to get other representatives to sign on, this letter is then sent to business owners that fired these employees that walked off the job. Pedro Colón, reason for doing this is clear, he is using his position to intimidate these business owners to get them to rehire these people, we know that the next step will be to orginize Latino protests and rallies in front of these businesses in a further attempt at intimidation… This is what we get from our elected officials in Wisconsin.

The people that were fired, were fired because they left their jobs without permission, for a political reason, if an employee left work to attend a Mark Green for Governor rally, I don’t think Colón would be using government pressure to get them their jobs back.

Tracking sexual predators of children - S.C. has better solution

Thursday, March 30th, 2006

Another victory for Citizens for a Safe Wisconsin and the children of our state.

JS Online: DayWatch
The Legislature’s budget committee voted today to require lifetime global positioning tracking of those convicted of first-degree sex assaults on children out on probation or parole - a cost state officials estimate at more than $10,000 per year for each offender.

On a 15-1 vote, the Joint Finance Committee recommended lifetime minute-by-minute tracking of those guilty of the most violent sex assaults on children.

The bill, a version of which has already been passed by the state Assembly, will be debated next month by the full Legislature.

Under the bill, someone convicted of first-degree sex assault of a child would wear an electronic bracelet and watch-like transmitter that, every 10 minutes, would alert law enforcement agencies if the offender travels into forbidden areas - near schools, for example. The bill would also require additional probation and parole workers to be hired.

This still has to go through the full Senate and then Doyle, but it is moving along nicely.

I would rather do what South Carolina is doing, they are pushing to expand capitol punishment to cover those convicted a second time of sexual assault of a child, but most of Wisconsin’s elected officials wouldn’t consider the death penalty for Osama bin Laden, the kids be damned.

The truth hurts!

WISN-AM Early Spin Blog: I know I should feel sorry for them… but…
In Waikiki Hawaii, they are scrambling to repair a sewer line break that has allowed 10 millions gallons of raw, untreated raw sewage to flow into the ocean.

To them, it’s a break in the line they are trying to fix. For us, our system is DESIGNED to do it!

To them, it’s a “horrible” day. For us, we call it “Friday”.

Wi. Supreme Court Justice to retire: Calling Wagner, Bucher, Van Hollen

Wednesday, March 29th, 2006

Justice Jon Wilcox has announced that he will not seek reelection when his term is up in 2007. Wilcox has been a good Conservative justice and will be missed on the bench.

We now have about one year before the election for his replacement. It is extremely important that Conservatives find a strong candidate for this position. I know Jeff Wagner has said in the past that he doesn’t want to run for office again, but I he would be great for the position (and I could stop writing in his name for all of the uncontested judicial races). C’mon Jeff, we need you!

I hope that we can get some strong Conservative law experts to help us here, I am thinking that at least people like Jeff Wagner, Paul Bucher and J.B. Van Hollen could at least give us some guidance, as they would be in a position to at least know of some good possibilities.

WisPolitics.com
Justice Jon P. Wilcox will retire from the Wisconsin Supreme Court when his current 10-year term ends in August 2007. He makes the announcement today, more than a year before the April 2007 election for the seat, to clear the way for those interested in becoming candidates in this statewide race.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my 37 years of public service,” Wilcox said. “My term will end about one month before my 71st birthday.”

His years of service include 15 years on the Wisconsin Supreme Court and 13 years as a circuit court judge in Waushara County; one year as a family court commissioner; six years as a state representative in the Wisconsin Legislature; and two years as an officer in the U.S. Army.

Flag Desecration is not the way to gain support

Flag OutrageThis Pisses Me Off!

Due to the immigration debate going on in America today, the supporters of criminal activity are are trying to get people to support their cause by totally disrespecting our flag!

They want to come to America for the benefits, but at the same time, they totally disrespect our flag, do these idiots think that this is they way to build support for their criminal activity? All it does for me is turns me more against their cause.

Michelle Malkin has a couple of posts on this flag desecration.

They come here illegally, many, if not most make no effort to integrate with our society, many leach off the social support agencies, then they disrespect us, then they wonder why we don’t want to allow them to stay with no questions asked.

County seeks $100 million in pension suit

Wednesday, March 29th, 2006

It would be nice to recoup some of our staggering losses.

JS Online: DayWatch
Hoping to recoup at least $100 million paid out in the controversial pension deal that still haunts its finances, Milwaukee County today sued its former actuarial firm, claiming malpractice and breach of contract.

The federal lawsuit targets a deep pocket: Mercer Human Resource Consulting, the New York City-based global subsidiary of Marsh & McLennan Companies, a conglomerate with annual revenues of $12 billion. The case was assigned to Federal Judge Charles Clevert.

Mercer, under a contract signed by former county personnel director Gary Dobbert, advised the county on the costs of various pension enhancements under consideration in 2000. Some were adopted in the multifaceted package of retirement sweeteners that has contributed to soaring pension payouts, a squeeze on the county budget and a raft of retirements at the courthouse.

Dobbert was a chief architect of the pension package and served a brief jail sentence in 2004 after the state attorney general’s office charged him with lying to county officials about the deal’s costs. He was also accused of smoothing the way for approval of the pension upgrade to benefit himself. Under an agreement with state prosecutors, he pleaded no contest to one felony count of misconduct in public office and two misdemeanor false statement counts.
