Another murder in my neighborhood

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006

Details are sketchy as of now, but it sounds like a 20 year old man was shot in the head on 47 & Villard, that’s just a few blocks from here… We sure could use the bookmobile Mr. Mayor.

UPDATE: Video coverage
Fox6 has video coverage from this morning.

Now don’t you feel safer Milwaukee?

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006

Wow, now that the paper has informed me that Milwaukee is much safer with Jim Doyle at the helm, I feel much better…

JS Online: Editorial: A clear choice on crime

Political foes like to outdo each other when it comes to being tough on crime. Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle earned his credentials as a hard-nosed, lock-the-bad-guys-up attorney general - a posture he maintains. His Republican challenger, U.S. Rep. Mark Green, has showed his toughness by proposing and backing laws stiffening criminal penalties.

But the state’s top executive must be more than just tough. He must be smart. Our review of the record suggests that Doyle is both tougher and smarter than Green on crime and that in one critical area, Green is too soft. We base this on his views on guns.

The elite on 4th & State tell us that we have been safe up until now, but if Green signs concealed carry and we are allowed to defend ourselves the way they do in 48 other states, then things will get dangerous around here.

On one important issue - guns - Doyle is head and shoulders above Green. Through his veto power, Doyle kept Wisconsin from adopting a misguided concealed-carry law. There are already too many guns out there, and there are some places they should never be, concealed or not. Green, in contrast, backs a concealed-carry law.

An editorialist that says we are the ones that are misguided for wanting to be able to defend ourselves, has obviously never been where the rest of us are every day.

John Kerry — If you aren’t smart, you end up in Iraq

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006

So John Kerry seems to think that the military is filled with stupid losers that can’t get a respectable job… It should be no surprise that America’s liberal elite think this way of our solders. Can you imagine what it would have been like with him as President, you thought the military was disillusioned by Carter, can you imagine what our troops would think if their commander in chief thought that the military was full of people to stupid to know any better? Gawd, I hate this man and what he stands for!

UPDATE

Michelle Malkin has a lot of great coverage, including Kerry saying that he doesn’t owe anyone an apology, and the response from several others in the GOP.

For a local angle, check out Lakeshore Laments, where Kurt, a United States Marine thanks Senator Kerry for the support.

I seen a video of President Bush’s response… Go get’em G.W!

Pro Marriage Amendment ad

Monday, October 30th, 2006

As someone that will be voting YES on Wisconsin’s “Marriage Amendment” to protect traditional marriage, I don’t like this ad. I wish they would take on the issue on the facts, not emotions. I just don’t like the message this as gives… It just doesn’t feel right to me.

NFL ‘Dirty Bomb’ suspect excited to be arrested, but wanted the FBI to bust him

Saturday, October 28th, 2006

What a nutlog.

MyFox Milwaukee | New Information: About NFL Hoax

The grocery store clerk charged with posting phony Internet threats about dirty bomb attacks on NFL football stadiums was excited when local police found him last week, but disappointed the officers weren’t with the FBI, according to a police report.

Jake J. Brahm was arrested Oct. 18 while checking items in the dairy section at Outpost Natural Foods, the Wauwatosa Police Department said. His assistant manager alerted authorities after Brahm boasted that his threats had made national news, the report said.

The report said Brahm, who turned 21 on Monday, “threw his clipboard on the ground, got a big smile on his face, threw his arms in the air and then down.” “Brahm yelled in a very loud voice, ‘Yes! I can’t believe this! How did you guys find me?”‘ arresting officer Joel Kutz wrote. After Kutz handcuffed Brahm and told him he needed to go to the station for questioning, Brahm saw the police patch on his uniform and said, “Oh you guys are only local police. Is the FBI coming to question me?”

In the police car, Brahm expressed excitement, speaking quickly and even asking at one point if he would be declared an “enemy combatant,” the report said. “I again told Brahm he needed to calm down,” Kutz wrote. “Brahm said, ‘I just feel sorry for my parents.”‘

Bruce Murphy & Charlie Sykes discuss the ‘Dirty Dorm Deal’

Saturday, October 28th, 2006

As the local snail media continues to ignore the story broken by Bruce Murphy on the “creative tactics” used in building a new UWM dorm building, where only Doyle donors have gotten the contracts, and building has begun, even though the DNR has yet to approve the deal. It is falling on the Alternative Media to get the story out. Leading the charge is of course, local Talk Radio. There are also a bunch of bloggers working to get the word out. As part of my effort to spread the word, here is an interview done by Charlie Sykes, with the author of this story, Bruce Murphy.

This is going to be a freakin’ fiasco!

Saturday, October 28th, 2006

This election is going to be a mess, you can see that already.

A tough test on election day
Voter database, new machines already pose challenges

Election officials across Wisconsin are scrambling to prepare for the first high-turnout test Nov. 7 of a quirky new statewide voter database, new electronic voting machines and new voting rules - working overtime to avoid the kind of election fiascos that are being predicted in other states.

And municipal election clerks also say they are struggling to do all this while trying to keep up with an avalanche of absentee-voter requests. It is estimated that 10% of all Wisconsin voters will vote in the November election by absentee ballot, mostly for personal convenience.

“We’re getting flooded with requests for absentee ballots,” said Sue Edman, executive director of the Milwaukee Election Commission. “We’re getting something like 400 requests a day.”

As a result of a deluge of mail-in requests for absentee ballots, Edman said, harried workers in her office have not adequately cross-checked some of the new requests with a permanent list of voters who automatically are sent absentee ballots every election.

The result, she said, is that some voters have been sent two ballots.

Thank you Mill Road Firestone

Saturday, October 28th, 2006

If you need work on your car on the north west side, consider giving your business to the Mill Road Firestone on 76th & Mill Rd., I know I will again. They treated me right today!

I stopped at a store across the street from there, and when I came out, my truck wouldn’t start, so after my failed attempts to smack it into shape, I walked over to them, they had to tow it, but since they had another car being towed in, I got a very good price on that, they expected that they wouldn’t be able to do anything until Monday, so I caught a cab home, a few minutes later they called and said that they found and fixed the minor problem and I was ready to go if I could get back there before they closed. I grabbed another cab back there and made it just in time, they got it done very fast and gave me a fair price, even with the tow and cab fair both ways, I am a very happy camper.

I know this isn’t the type of post I usually make here, but I’m happy and think they deserve a shout-out!

Another man was murdered by the Milwaukee Criminal Injustice System.

Post moved to the top

Update

Response from both District Attorney Candidates are posted in the Comments section of this post. Both Lew Wasserman and John Chisholm comment on the case. Click here to read Comments.

Original post: 10/26/06 at 1:01 p.m.
I don’t have much time right now to express the outrage I feel that yet again, a man was murdered by someone while the District Attorneys Office in Milwaukee stalled paperwork. This is the second time in the past few months that this has happened, the last case was when Sidney Gray was released because of bungled paperwork, just days before he murdered Frank Moore Jr.

This time, a man pulled a shotgun on a neighbor, the paperwork floundered around the District Attorneys office and Clerk of Courts offices for a few weeks. The shotgun incident took place on Aug. 11, he murdered a man on Aug 26, the arrest warrant on the first incident was finally approved on Aug. 31, and it finally made it to the Sheriffs Office on Oct. 11… a little late for the victim.

I have to go back to work, I will post more on this later, but I want to say again, loud and clear, that E. Michael McCann and others in the Injustice System has more blood on their hands, this McCann’s excuses are so lame… Will this change under John Chisholm? No one knows, he has been in a bunker since the primary election. He is going to be the next District Attorney, don’t you think he would want to make people believe that things will change under his watch? Or will they change at all? we just don’t know.

While arrest warrant was stalled, a killing occurred
Bureaucracy, lack of staff blamed for 2nd such case

Just weeks after the revelation that a mishandled burglary prosecution might have enabled the July slaying of Frank Moore II as he checked his neighbor’s home, Milwaukee County Courthouse bureaucracy stalled an arrest warrant for another man until after, prosecutors say, he committed murder.

A woman told police Julius M. King, 22, pointed a shotgun at her and threatened to kill her Aug. 11, but the misdemeanor charge filed against him in that case four days later didn’t result in a warrant until Sept. 11 - four days after King’s arrest in the Aug. 26 shooting death of Fabian Binns.

More on this this evening…
