Now who will “trudge through the scores of local political blogs so you don’t have to”?
Spiceblog: Moving on
A pizza delivery man (one of the most dangerous jobs there is) who has had to shoot two armed robbers over the past 7 months, is being charged with carrying a concealed weapon. In both cases, the shootings were found to be justified, as both thugs were trying to rob him while armed with a gun.
With all of the thugs on Milwaukee’s streets, killers, robbers, rapists and all around thugs, our new District Attorney charges a man that was defending himself while doing his dangerous job.
Pizza man who shot 2 charged
A 46-year-old pizza delivery man who has shot two people on the job in the past seven months was hit with his first criminal charge today: carrying a concealed weapon.
Andres Vegas, who told authorities that the teenagers he shot last month and in July were each trying to rob him, appeared in court and was released on a $1,500 signature bond today. He faces up to nine months in jail and a $10,000 fine if convicted of the misdemeanor. His next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 19.
According to the criminal complaint, Vegas, of Cudahy, was making a delivery in the 2800 block of N. 22nd St. on the evening of Jan. 4 for Mona Lisa Pizza, 4938 W. North Ave. As he got of his car, he was approached by an armed suspect. Vegas then reached into his car’s passenger seat, got his .32 semi-automatic pistol and shot his assailant. He then disarmed the suspect and waited for police.
The complaint says the suspect admitted trying to rob Vegas, who prosecutors then determined was justified in the shooting. But because Vegas’s gun had been “the front passenger seat beside the pizzas,” it met the definition of a concealed weapon.
The complaint also says that “prosecutorial discretion” was why Vegas wasn’t charged for the July shooting, even though he “admitted to carrying a gun on his person in a concealed manner” in that case. But Vegas was warned then that he could not carry a concealed gun for protection on his job.
I want to sit on this jury!
We Need Concealed Carry In Wisconsin! Just like they have in 48 other states!
Jim “Luigi” Schmitt is pushing to increase the pay of the already underpaid County Board. He also wants to increase the County Exec. pay, but Scott Walker refuses to take the full pay that they have already. This would also serve to increase the incredible pension that these County Board members will receive (Remember the county pension scandal that has crippled Milwaukee County?)
It is clear that Schmitt is doing this now, so soon after the election, is because by the time the next election rolls around, no one will remember this. We must fight this!

UPDATE: Temps may be coldest in a decade
The National Weather Service in a special weather statement issued this afternoon is warning that temperatures across southern Wisconsin this weekend and next week could be the coldest in 10 years.
The Weather Service says low temperatures could range from 10 to 20 degrees below zero, with high temperatures struggling to rise beyond single digits.
Dangerous wind chills are also expected with the frigid temperatures, the Weather Service says.
I’ll admit it, I am NOT looking forward to going to work in this
I suggest filling your gas tank this week, or at least pick up a bottle of Heet to prevent gas line freeze. Also, prepare your car for the cold weather, keep a blanket in the car incase you break down and a cell phone could be a life saver in this weather.
The word for the week will be LAYERS! Dressing in layers will keep you comfortable in this weather, but you see to many people more concerned with looking good than keeping warm. -20 is some serious stuff.
I already have the makings for a huge pot of chili for this weekend!
Sen. Joseph Biden (D-Del) actually said this of Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill).
“I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy … I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”
Speaks volumes for what Joe Biden thinks of America’s black population, doesn’t it?
Biden filed papers today to open his presidential exploratory committee… If a Republican presidential candidate would have said this, his plans to be President would be over, but since Biden is a good ‘ol Democrat, it will be ignored…
Update: Remember Biden’s last racist comment
At last nights basketball game between Bay View High School at Bradley Tech. When Bradley Tech won in overtime, the students rushed the court, and some Bay View students, unhappy with the celebration, jumped a Bradley Tech student, and the rumble was on.
By the time it was over, 50 squads from all over the city were on scene, 4 cops and two students were injured and 10 were arrested.
WTMJ has some great audio and video coverage. The video was quite a sight.
Disturbance after basketball game injures 6
An overtime victory by Bradley Tech over the visiting Bay View High School basketball team Tuesday night sent hundreds of fans onto the court, sparking a disturbance that injured four police officers and two students and led to at least 10 arrests, officials said.
[…]
Lt. Alfonso Morales of the Milwaukee Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau said four police officers and two female students, one of whom had the seizure, suffered minor injuries.
The disturbance “was the result of fans rushing the court to celebrate and students from Bay View not being too happy about that,” Morales said.
This was the first major fight at an MPS basketball game this year, but fights at MPS sporting events, especially basketball games, has quite a history.
UPDATE: More details
More details have come out since I first posted this. MPS has done the right thing, only two parents of the players will now be allowed to attend the basketball games of the two schools involved. You can listen to the details, as well as the mayor’s response on the WTMJ website.
We also learned that two police officers in the fight came away with broken bones, so you can see that this was a serious incident.
Response from Michael McGee Sr. & Jr.
The McGee’s chime in today by claiming that this is all over blown, Michael McGee Sr. said that at Packers and Brewers games, 50 to 60 people get arrested each week… “But they ain’t black,” Alderman McGee adds.
But in my search of the news, it seems that the most I can find is a reference to a story out of Minnesota that claims that a Vikings vs. Packers game at Lambeau set a record with 16 arrests. There was also a mention at PackersNews.com of a 12 arrest day being a busy day for Lambeau Field. compare Lambeau’s 60,000 seat capasity and this basketball game with only 1,100…
As for the arrests during the Brewers games, the first game at Miller Park, with the huge crowd they had and all of the extra things that go on at the first game of the year, not to mention the opening of a new stadium, there were only 11 arrests among the 41,544 fans.
So yes Mr. McGee, this was a big deal.
Listen to the McGee’s claims of the coverage being overblown because of the race of those involved.
Milwaukee County Circuit Judge William W. Brash dropped the bail for a former lawyer that is accused of 2 counts of 2nd Degree Sexual Assault of Child, one count each of Child Enticement-Expose Sex Organ and Child Enticement-Sexual Contact and 17 counts of Possession of Child Pornography.
I posted the details in this post a few days ago, you can read more details there.
Another sexual predator has been released in Milwaukee, this time it is Mark Neuman, living at 2237 E VOLLMER AVE on Milwaukee’s south east side.

This location is 5 doors from a daycare that has gone out of business since Neuman moved in. The day care owner told the parents, even though she was not required to do so, and all parents chose to move their children to a safer location, putting this small business out of business.

My solution, a mass extermination campaign, I say we start with the environmental nutlogs that believe we can influence the global climate… That would eliminate a LOT of hot air.
You can not support the troops if you oppose what they do. They believe in the mission, and they hear what America says about them.
“If they’re gonna support us, support us all the way.”
Thanks Peter, we need to see things like this.

Officer assaulted with colostomy bag
A teenager stopped by a police officer at the Grand Avenue Mall as a suspected truant became disruptive and threw his colostomy bag at the officer, department spokeswoman Anne E. Schwartz said this morning.
The officer was responding to a truancy complaint at the downtown mall Monday at 1:17 p.m. and stopped the youth, who refused to tell the officer his name or age, she said. The suspect then became disruptive and threw his colostomy bag containing bodily waste at the officer.
A colostomy bag is a worn outside the stomach to collect feces, generally following colon surgery. Schwartz said the assault is considered an “injury to an officer” because of the potential harm from contamination.
I actually work with people with colostomy bags, the though of someone throwing one at me… Ewwww!
Jim Doyle will be telling us how he will be screwing us over for the next year give his State of the State address, or as it should be titled… SOS! I have a Web Exclusive preview of Governor Doyle giving his speech.
Did it bother anyone else to see how the media handled the big battle in Iraq yesterday? 15 hours of fighting, somewhere between 250 and 350 terrorists killed, almost 200 wounded and/or captured, and it broke up a plot that could have killed hundreds, if not thousands of Pilgrims, and their plan was to occupy Najaf, topple the government and kill all religious leaders…
But the American news media is so invested in having the public believe that we are losing in Iraq, that they are obsessed with the two US losses in a helicopter crash and two Iraqi police officers. Yes, any loss of troops on our side is a tragedy, but in reality, this was a huge, devastating victory against this terrorist group. This is something that, if the media were rooting for America, they would be talking about as a huge win for the good guys… But we see who they are really rooting for, don’t we?
Wow, this was stunning.
A judge on Monday dismissed sexual assault and kidnapping charges against a murder defendant who investigators said killed a young photographer with the help of his teenage nephew.
Defense attorneys argued the charges be dropped because the nephew’s testimony was necessary to support them, and prosecutors missed a Jan. 22 deadline for deciding whether the boy would testify against Steven Avery.
Normally, I would send you to Lakeshore Laments for the best blog coverage, but Kevin is out of town, so I don’t know how much he will be able to blog over the next few days.
