VISIT Milwaukee announced today that the Brew City will play host to the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance’s Gay Softball World Series this summer at ball diamonds throughout the area.
I think I speak for all of southeastern Wisconsin when I say that our area is flattered (dare I say, even “mildly curious”) that they’d select our fair city as host to their hot, sweaty event.
The organization’s website boasts membership of over 680 teams in 37 leagues throughout North America. Over 4,000 athletes are expected to accessorize the Milwaukee area during this summer’s competition, translating into an economic impact for the area of over $1,000,000.00, and an expected booking of 1,755 hotel nights, according to VISIT Milwaukee.
According to the Journal / Sentinel’s “Business of Sports” blog, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, who members will undoubtedly recognize from his 1970′s-era tenure in the adult film industry, recorded a “personal video appeal” to the group.
For an “insider” glimpse into the upcoming fun, check out this colorful video promoting the event:

The video is LOL funny and so is the Sports blog with comments. I suspect this will also increase attendance at Greekfest.

Unless things have changed a lot since I was in college, “gay softball players” is redundant.

Ron - probably more hiding than racing of sausages.

As I said the other day, before our blog comments were so rudely interrupted, this video reminds me of the following lyrics from the Christmas song “Deck the Halls”: “…don we now our gay apparel, fa la la la la la la la la. Tis the season to be jolly, fa la la la la la la la la.”

Neal and bob did a fabulous job wit this video. Although it is curiously familiar to this South Park skit.

I wonder if they’d let straight people play?
