Just bringing an update to those following my busted wing story. To save front page space, if you are reading directly from the blog, click through to open the entire post if you would like.

I had a busy morning, I did my normal physical therapy, they added a few new exercises, so it’s pretty sore. Still no weight bearing, so its all just working to regain flexibility in the wrist and hand, and it is amazing how much bending my wrist a few degrees can hurt. But we took some measurements to compare with the first day, and there is definite progress. My grip strength went from 5lbs. to 25lbs. (the good hand is 110lbs.) and the flexibility is starting to come back. The scar is healing nicely too.

After therapy, I went to talk to my boss to see about getting back into the swing of things. Of course I can’t do my normal job, since it involves a fair amount of lifting pushing and pulling, but I will be training with new employees until I am cleared to get back to work normally. I have done training in the past, I actually think I’m pretty good at it, but I hated doing it  But right now, it is an ideal option for me and my bad paw.

Friday, one month from the fall, I will return to work, the new trainees will be doing in-house class work tomorrow, that is why I get the extra day off. And I think that starting on a Friday will be good for me too, this arm is still giving me quite a bit of pain, so this gives me one day on, then two off to recover if needed. Even though I won’t be doing anything with that arm, just the jostling around and not being able to elevate and ice it, will probably cause it to flair up.

Since I am starting back to work, we are moving therapy to the evenings, two days a week, probably moving to three days a week once I can start with weight bearing exercises in a few weeks.

This concludes this weeks boring busted wing update. ;-)
