The FAA has released the of the communication between the departure radar controller and the US Airways flight in the incident that has become known as “The Miracle on the Hudson.”
As a pilot, my eyes well up listening to this…thank God it turned out like it did. Captain Chesley Sullenberger’s composure in the face of disaster makes him a true hero.
This article from the USA Today has an interesting graphic depicting the flight path of US Airways Flight 1549.
UPDATE: Here is a link to the FAA website page that lists its links to audio recordings for the air traffic controllers connected to that fateful day. Links include transcripts. Lots of info. Anyone with questions about terminology, post a comment and I’ll help you out.

That’s a neat 3D map, but it doesn’t clearly show the George Washington Bridge- which is not that far north on the Hudson River from where the plane landed.

You have to give credit for the air traffic controller. He did not panic, maintained his composure and kept on working, even after he knew the plane went into the water.
