Milwaukee Catholics have lost a powerful leader, as has been rumored for months, Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan has been named by Pope Benedict XVI to replace New York’s retiring Cardinal Edward M. Egan. This is a great honor for Dolan, as he will be taking over one of the largest (2.5 million) and most high profile archdiocese in the world. It is also expected that Dolan will soon be named a Cardinal.

Anyone that has attended a mass or heard heard Dolan speak, knows what a powerful leader Dolan is, and I know he will do well. Congratulations Archbishop. Next question will be, who will become the Archbishop for the 682,000 member Milwaukee archdiocese?

  1. Patrick Dorwin Says:

Fox6′s Justin Williams keeps calling Dolan, Father Dolan, is it so hard to use the title he has held for the past seven years here in Milwaukee?

Patrick: It may also be that Williams just screwed up…but who doesn’t know that Dolan is ARCHBISHOP Dolan?

He will be missed. He is a powerful speaker. I had the pleasure of attending a few Masses where he presided, including Confirmation last year (where my husband was a sponsor for a member of our parish). Very, very powerful and kinda cool.

My hope and prayer is that the next Archbishop is as equally conservative and orthodox. And someone willing to keep up with the Faith in Our Future campaign and Living Our Faith movement.

Methinks with Benedict XVI in Rome, that is a very likely possibility.
