Planning to join the throngs of Wisconsinites flocking to gun retailers to partake in your Second Amendment privileges? Get ready to coin up.
Gun and ammo purchases have surged in the months following last November’s election, and don’t think that Doyle and other politicians haven’t noticed. While it’s still legal to purchase a handgun in the United States, the master of the smoke-and-mirrors budget is apparently all too willing to capitalize:
Gov. Jim Doyle wants to increase fees for handgun purchase background checks.Doyle’s executive budget calls for raising the check fee from $8 to $30.
The state Department of Justice asked Doyle to raise the fee from $8 to $13 to reflect the increased costs of performing the checks, but Doyle, a Democrat, went further.
Further? Yeah, I’ll say. At nearly double the current fee, $15.00 would have been “further.” $30.00 is exploitation, pure and simple.
Yet one more way in which the law-abiding, non-felon, taxpaying citizen will continue to get raped by the system under our new totalitarian rule.

I’m sure he’ll use that extra revenue for funding for prosecutors and law enforcement.

Think about who he’s really screwing over. Where does most of the violent crime occur in Milwaukee? Many decent folks living in these high crime areas who might want to arm themselves for their own protection from the thugs who hold these people hostage in their own neighborhood will be forced to fork over even more money to the gov to obtain some sense of security in their home. I hope they remember all these fee increases, including the cig tax and the return of thugs to their neighborhoods by the gov’s early release program, when the next election rolls around.

Doyle is crook, a hood. What do you expect? He has no morals. And he’s ethically challenged. I have other things to say about him, but I can’t use that kind of language on this website. This guy infuriates me!

Here in MN our permit to puchase is free and we can get the permit to carry as well.

I was discussing this very subject last week and was told to “buy off paper” if possible, that way there is no trail. I was also told to invest in gold and LEAD. I trust this person’s judgment.
Never in my life have I considered owning a gun, but as a now single woman I feel I need the protection and when all this s**t goes down I want to be able to protect myself if someone comes banging on my door or breaks in because they want to take from me what I’ve worked so hard to earn and keep. The police, the military, the national guard will have their hands full and won’t respond to my cry for help so I need to do for myself!!!!

Wait till Obama gets his registration fee through. Each of your guns will cost you $25 registration per year. And when he decides to take the guns away, registered guns must be turned in or the ATF will visit you.
Your guns are going to soon be worthless, at $25 per year whats the point. Only the criminals will be able afford guns (unregistered).
Doyle for releasing criminals, Obama for felony amnisty, and law abiding citizens without guns/self protection, WTF…
