BadgerBlogger‘s own Roland Melnick is attending one of today’s many Taxpayer Rallies and sent these photos in from the front lines in Madison. Thought I’d share them with you.

I’m not sure I have the facts to back this up, but I’m pretty sure this is the largest gathering ever in Madison at which no hookahs were smoked, nor tambourines played.

Five to six thousand people - maybe more. Very orderly crowd. If there were any counter protestors, I didn’t see them nor did I receive any reports of any problem people. When all was done, no garbage left behind either.

  2. Calvin Says:

It was a great event…and yes, very orderly. I didn’t see the counter protesters either. The Capitol police were very accommodating. Anyone notice JB VanHollen on the balcony above the speakers? Guess he’s too good to come down with us little people.

  3. Clint Says:

Expect the newspapers to count those people and end up a number somewhere between 10 and 20….

  4. The Asian Badger Says:

Very orderly and unified. I would say there were 5000 people there. Some very good speakers, too.

  5. kneenor Says:

I was there too, all the way from Green Bay. I heard crowd estimates at 8,000. What a glorious day for a protest.

  6. gus Says:

Clint if only they had named it the Madison Circus Parade and Tea party. The Urinal would tell us about the 3 quarters of a million in attendance.

  7. Roland_Melnick Says:

More photos, a couple vids and my report will be posted around 9pm tonight. Thanks for getting this preliminary stuff up, Bruce.

  8. Ron Says:

Are those two ladies in front looking up at Homeland Security choppers?

  9. MichaelP Says:

No hookahs, no drums, and from the looks of it, no black folk. Where were you folks during the last 8 years?

  10. gus Says:

Yes, MichaelP all black people abhor tea parties.
    They are all alike.
    Wtf?

  11. Glenn D. Frankovis Says:

If MichaelP had been there, he would have seen some black people. He would have even heard a black speaker who was very well received by the crowd.

  12. HeatherRadish Says:

    Awesome. I’m jealous.

MichaelP, the parties were open to anyone who thinks taxes are too high and spending is out of control. How about you tell us why there aren’t more “black folk” out there?

  13. TerryN Says:

I heard a MSM reporter interrupt an interviewee to point out that there were no black folks a.k.a African Americans at this Republican anti-tax rally.

The interviewee corrected the reporter by saying this is an American anti-tax rally and there were no invitations sent out. Everybody was welcome to come.

  14. gus Says:

Every coin has 2 sides. If liberals believe there were no black people there and if they proclaim it gleefully, you’d have to ask why?
Would they be so gleeful if they saw all “white people” as non-diverse, and in lock step with one thought process and one party???
Liberals USE black people. Unfortunately, far far too many blacks have gotten used to being used by them and have become dependant on Opie, Barney, Nancy, Ted, Harry Reid and Gwen Moore for a few crumbs. What happened to the promise of a Great Society? It wasn’t a promise, it was a lie. Being dependant on society for your existance is slavery not liberation. Liberals need blacks to be dependant. Black people and the poor are not needy chldren, they are capable if held accountable. Libs hold them down with the drug of dependence. They make promises that they never have meant to keep.

  15. Randy Hollenbeck Says:

Yes, there were African American people there. A very nice father and his two sons were right next to me cheering with the rally. Just look at picture number 100_9336 for those that need proof!

Why must the left make this a black and vs. white issue?

  16. Roland_Melnick Says:

Lance Burri’s got some great shots at The Troglopundit…including this aerial shot…and this one too!

  17. Glenn D. Frankovis Says:

Some goof just called Jay Weber’s show and said he “walked all around the rally and did not see one black there”. I tried calling but got a busy signal, so I sent Jay an e-mail informing him that I was on site as a volunteer security supervisor and I saw blacks at the rally. This caller who claims to have walked around and saw no blacks must be more blind than Stevie Wonder.

  18. Deibert Says:

Didn’t Paul Ryan vote for TARP?

  19. John Smith Says:

This business of racial disparity is a touchy subject. With self-proclaimed African Americans only ~13% of the US population and even less is Madison, who could expect a great turn out of conservative Americans of a particular race.

Was the racial disparity questioned last year when about 10,000 people showed up to defraud the government of flood aid. To steal money from the hurting people it was meant to help, paid for by the productive people?

What we talking about here is a misconception that there are more African Americans than there actually are, subsidized and commercialized by taxpayers. There are actually more of Hispanic or Latino origin.

Why does the lions share of welfare go specifically to 13% of the population?

um yeah right. 5000 at the most and i still think that’s a flying monkey exaggeration

  22. gus Says:

Bob Downey, do you have a man crush on our Marxist pretend President? What form of government employs you? Clearly you couldn’t exist in the real world. You’re an idiot.
