I have always been fascinated by Mob movies. One of my favorites is 1991′s Bugsy.
In one of the best scenes of the movie, Ben Siegel (Warren Beatty) tells former associate, turned informant, Harry Greenberg (Elliott Gould) that “Everybody deserves a fresh start every once in a while.”
For two blog regulars, and you know who you are, this post is your “fresh start.” But it’s also your last chance.
From this point forward, you are not to comment to one another. You are not to acknowledge each others’ existence. We’re at our wit’s end with your endless inducements and provocations.
You’re each good people and we have no huge problem with either of you personally. But the days of looking the other way to thread after thread of your petty bickering have passed.
I was raised the only child of a female single parent, so I never knew the joy of having dad stare us down from the driver’s seat of the Family Truckster, telling us to “shape up or ship out.” But, with God as my witness, the next time you kids so much as look at each other cross-eyed, I’m pulling this car over and you’re both gonna’ walk home.
And when you get there, the locks are going to be changed and your keys aren’t going to work any more. We’re all in agreement on this, we’re serious about it, and the matter is not open to debate.
Carry on.
