New York’s WNYW reports on an interesting trend: Stimulus checks being sent to folks who’ve been dead for decades, including one gentleman whose daughter received one of the $250.00 checks made payable to her father, who died in Italy in 1975, and was never a Social Security recipient in the first place.

Fortunately, these phantom checks have only been sent out to an estimated 8,000-10,000 people. And, hey, it’s not like they want to bring this special blend of bureaucratic efficiency to our entire health care system, or anything silly like that.

Oh, wait.

I liked the part where they asked people who got checks in error to please send them back. Such misplaced faith in human nature.

How much does one of those $250 checks really cost after you add in the bureaucratic overhead, or does anyone even know?

Imagine having to return $250 of your own money that was given back to you in error.

Can we ask Chrysler and GM to give back the checks given to them in error?

They vote… why shouldn’t they get checks?
