As the young woman pleads for our help. “This is horrific, this is genocide, this is a massacre, this is Hitler and you people should stop it! A long time we have been exposed to this and nobody takes action. It’s time to act!”

President Obama’s action…

At least he bought the ice cream from a good Republican family!

  2. Anon Says:

How unfair. To use what is happening in Iran…people dying in the streets as they are fighting for their lives…to make political cheap shots. It’s wrong.

  3. Don Krueger Says:

Not to sound as if I don’t care, I do. However, it is not the responsibilty of the United States to rid totalitarian governments. The US acts when its’ interests around the world are under attack. It is up to the people of those nations to stand up to its’ government and overthrow it just as this country once did. If democracy is the motivation then the people are more likely to attempt to overthrow the government. If the US can assist covertly then by all means we should.

The people of Iran need to organize and take over government control. It’s easy said than done but they have to atleast try and not to depend on the US to solve every world problem. We have problems of our own that needs to be addressed and maybe the people of the US need to take control of its’ own government before we control other governments unless of course those governments put us at risk.

  4. John Smith Says:

They ask for liberation help from us as our own government continually tries to reduce and control ours? As our government gains more control, they gain more momentum, where they start supporting racist groups, or try to take/limit your 2nd amendment rights away, or will eventually rig election.

The government will protect you from yourself, even if they have to kill you.

  5. Anon Says:

As painful as it is to watch…I agree with you…Don.

  6. Cranky Says:

Because being endorsed by the American government is just such a golden ticket worldwide, right?

It’d be like getting Hillary to endorse Bobby Jindal for president. Confused righties would suddenly be saying “Aw hell, but I kind of liked that guy.”

  7. rbrtdowney Says:

Where was your OUTRAGE when President Bush and John McCain ate cake while people drowned in New Orleans? Oh, yeah. You hate America.

    Here’s the picture proof:

Obama’s doing the right thing by not inserting ourselves too aggressively in Iran. Remember, YOUR presidential candidates policy to Iran was to “bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran.”

The US has already mettled in Iran too many times (remember 1954?? The Iranians sure do.)

  8. Patrick Dorwin Says:

No, we can’t liberate them, but a little vocal support from the man that is supposedly the leader of the free world would be nice, but he has to be dragged kicking and screaming every time he has to make a statement critical of Islamofascism.

  9. Patrick Dorwin Says:

Robert, you don’t remember the media being in an uproar? I do. And I remember the years of criticism that Bush took at every opportunity, from the media and the Liberal left (but I repeat myself…)

You don’t support a double standard, do you? </dripping-sarcasm>

  10. Dave_Sheboygan Says:

I wonder what IS the line that will make Obama react to the tragedy in Iran? What will be the straw that breaks the camels back?

Does he not see the horror? Does he not see people calling for freedom? Does Obama not see that the people of Iran want to be free and not live under a dictator?

Can you really just sit back and let innocent people die? Oh, wait Obama’s willing to let American’s die when he passes his lack-of-health-care-plan.

So pretty much he doesn’t give a rip. Nice…reeeeal nice.

  11. Dan Says:

I think he needs to be more outspoken, and I think his comment that he was afraid to be mistranslated by the Iranian press was total b.s.

But nothing more than words should be offered to the Iranian people at this time. They are the ones who need to step up and take on their government by whatever means *they* feel necessary. Freedom has a habit of slipping away if you’re not the one who won it for yourself.

Freedom has a habit of slipping away if you’re not the one who won it for yourself.

I’ve noticed that in America lately.

  13. Silvermare Says:

Yeah, from the same people who raised hell about George Bush’s seeming indifference during the 9/11 attacks-where he’s reading a storybook to children when he hears about the attacks, there’s dead silence concerning Pres. Obama’s reactions to what’s going on in Iran.

  14. Callahan Says:

Obama is a total embarrassment. Typical Chicago hack. I’ll be glad when he’s gone. I can’t stand to look at him or listen to him anymore.

  15. Duke Says:

You took the words right out of my mouth. When that clown’s photo is on a web page I have to scroll the page up so I can’t see it. When he speaks he’s got that stupid little whistle just before he speaks the letter ‘c’ and just after he speaks the letter ‘s.’ There must be a scientific term for such a speach impediment, other than just annoying.

Everything about this pretend President is just wrong! But then, I guess I’ve just got a bad case of MDS - Messiah Derangement Syndrome. Anyone know exactly how many more days we have to listen to this Chicago crook before his four year freebee tour is over?

  16. Big J Says:

Lol. This website is such a joke. I’m glad I RARELY visit it. Only reason I did, is because I accidentally clicked the wrong link from a Google search.

Sorry your G Dub Bush successor didn’t win, or that because G Dub was in the office for 8 years, he, his Gov’t employees, and people of his ilk, ruined the country. Now WE have to deal with it.

    Badger Blogger sucks.

  17. Big J Says:

Thank you RbrtDowney. Also… Callahan… Chris Benoit yourself.

  18. Martin Says:

Sorry to hear that Big J, Don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out!

  19. Paul Says:

Too bad Big J doesn’t get picked off by two thugs with nines.

  20. Jaeson Says:

Where are the folks who expressed outrage over the atrocities in Darfur? Where are the folks who place the fashionable “Free Tibet” bumper sticker on their Hybrids?

The political cheap shot that is being taken, is the one being taken by President Obama whereby he “walks the fine fine line” in order to preserve the opportunity to have his adoring stenographers in the press fawn over his potential nuclear talks with the mad mullahs, which all thinking people understand will go nowhere anyway.

At the very least, as leader of the Free World, Obama should unabashedly side with those who fight for their Freedom. He should be wearing a green ribbon publicly and unapologetically.

I understand the sentiment of those who feel it is not our responsibility to liberate Iran and can appreciate that, but I have to disagree.

I know this is a very unpopular stance now, but in my opinion the cause of Liberty knows no national boundaries. Iran’s Revolution is our Revolution. Our Revolutions are one and the same, as it is with all repressed peoples who rise up against their oppressors.

Having said that, all it would take would be an encouraging word from the President in support, and however unlikely it may be, that encouraging word alone could help topple a regime from within without one American soldier ever having to fire a single shot.

But more than that, for me Democrats and Republicans both be damned. My primary concern lies with the common Iranian and their struggle to attain their God given right to Liberty. I stand with them, as I did with the common Iraqis and Afghans.

Krauthammer wrote a brilliant piece on the subject:
