Last August, many of us were caught by surprise when, all of a sudden, Governor Jim Doyle announced he would not run for re-election. With big money, powerful statewide special interests and the advantage of being the incumbent behind him it didn’t make sense. Everyone including his supporters, considered Scott Walker the underdog in a Doyle-Walker race.
The full extent of Doyle’s reasons for dropping out won’t become apparent until we see what cushy gig he has no doubt set up for himself come January 2011. But Doyle’s self-interest is only part of the equation. His peers in the Democrat party are taking full advantage of his status as a political kamikaze. Regardless of a lack of public support, now is the time for them to ram through far-reaching, damaging legislation and policies…the kind of toxic stuff that would have killed Doyle’s re-election chances.
This week, I urge our readers to call their Wisconsin State Representatives and Senators to vote against one such toxic bill…Doyle’s Clean Energy Jobs Act. Tell your State Assembly that you won’t be fooled by the utterly dishonest attempt to trick the public into thinking this legislation is something it’s not. The bill is based on recommendations made by Doyle’s Global Warming Task Force .
In his last year in office…after driving the State into record high debt, creating taxes where none existed before, raising the taxes we already paid, watching unemployment rise to historic levels (especially in our urban centers)…Jim Doyle wants to take care of his narrow, niche interests at the expense of Wisconsin’s unemployed, its taxpayers and its unemployed taxpayers by adding “California-style emissions controls” and the promise of skyrocketing energy costs and call it a JOBS PROGRAM!!
State Representative Jim Ott from Wisconsin’s 23rd Assembly District has been all over this with his Hot Air Reports. Today, in the first hour of his show, Mark Belling read the testimony of Jim Ott on this bill…he makes excellent points and complete sense. I haven’t seen a transcript posted anywhere yet, but here is a link to the audio from Belling’s segment on it:
Belling Hr 1, Part 2_2-2-10-Ott’s Testimony (I recommend listening to the complete first hour of his show, but for Ott’s testimony, advance the slider to about 11 minutes in this clip)
Given the butt-kicking the global warming crowd’s credibility received in 2009, it became apparent to the schemers and plotters that they needed to give their plans a political rebranding. It’s no longer about saving the climate…it’s about creating jobs. A set of talking points washing over this country from the White House to our Governor’s Mansion like so much blended sewage. As if taking a State with some of the highest taxes in the country and adding ballooning energy costs are going to do much to create jobs and expand our manufacturing base in Wisconsin. This bill is toxic and will further hobble what few employers we have left in this State.
If you need to…go to the Wisconsin State Legislature website to get information on who your reps are and how you can contact them. Call their office and urge them to vote against this job-killing bill.

Are you suggesting that Jim Ott, the retired weather guy from a local lefty news organization, knows more about the “climate change” thing than Jay Bullock, the English teacher from a local failed school district?

I have no trouble imagining Doyle signing off on this bit of hate on constituents from the “Democratic Governors Association.” (Link goes to Dana Loesch)
