I’m a few days behind on this (and most things) but our resident radio geek @MKEScan let us know that the Milwaukee Fire Department had their OpenSky consoles installed a few days ago.
John opines that “[T]here won’t be any patches until after election. Or any testing.”
I agree, Tom Barrett can’t afford to remind people what a miserable failure that OpenSky has been for the six years that the police department has been screwing with this radio system under his “leadership”…

I am hearing more “did you copy” since they installed the OpenSky consoles.
Also MFD F2 dispatcher audio is super low now, this is the channel they use for major incidents too. (159.150)
Not sure why that is happening, I am just guessing the new consoles do OpenSky and VHF analog, and everything must be set up to make OpenSky sound good.
Here is a MFD feed http://milwaukeefirefeed.com or http://wisconsinscannerfeeds.com
Maybe some day soon they will give everyone a OpenSky portable and not even do a patch with old radios. That wouldn’t surprise me at all, after what happened with MPD.

btw. I have 2 L.E.O. brothers. I give a crap about whether our Police officers on EVERY LEVEL, are given the BEST TOOLS to do their sworn duty AND TO KEEP THEM SAFE.
One of my brothers was SWAT at Columbine.
This sh!t is serious. And COSTLY.

This will be big if MFD has problems. Firefighters all over Milwaukee County would be talking about it.
Barrett won’t be able to stop them.

I am wondering about the latest with MPD too
Where is the follow up story from the media about radio problems in the schools?
If the problems were fixed you would think we would of seen Flynn talking about it.

Wow! Major problems already and all they did was install OpenSky consoles. Dispatch not answering units at a structure fire on the F2 major incident channel I mention in my 1st post.

problem starts at the request for another engine & truck. F2 is real low audio I think archive missed some stuff.
