Dan Bice brings us word of a rift between the District Attorneys Office and the Milwaukee Police Department over the issue of vote fraud in the last presidential election. This is an issue we and other conservative bloggers and news sources covered heavily. The District Attorney and at least one alderman turned over to police a lot of information, but MPD investigators haven’t done much with the information, and Assistant District Attorney Bruce Landgraf fears that the delay has already harmed chances of prosecution in some cases.
Assistant District Attorney Bruce Landgraf, the Milwaukee County prosecutor responsible for overseeing campaign and election issues.
“Honestly, the Milwaukee Police Department largely ignored your double voter (and other) referrals received in January 2009 for the first six months of 2009,” Landgraf wrote in an e-mail to a city elections official on Jan. 26.
Speaking with unguarded candor, the veteran prosecutor said in his note that MPD’s tardy response had a major impact. The cases involve voters who may have cast more than one ballot, felons who may have voted illegally and other cases of possible election fraud.
“Sadly, several probable cases of genuine voter fraud were harmed by that delay,” Landgraf wrote in an e-mail obtained through an open records request.
The assistant district attorney was even more pessimistic about the investigation of more than 500 individuals who registered to vote on election day but whose addresses could not be confirmed later by postcard.
“I do not expect them to ever get to the Address Cards,” he said of the Milwaukee cops.
The Milwaukee Police Department spokesperson, Annie Schwartz says that the investigations are still ongoing, and they haven’t received anything from the District Attorneys Office concerning the delay.
I think Chief Flynn needs to take vote fraud seriously, we all remember the 2004 Voter Fraud Investigation that was leaked to the media soon after Flynn became chief. It seems that since those responsible for this report were “reassigned,” MPD hasn’t taken vote fraud seriously… That needs to change.
Alderman James Witkowiak also turned over to MPD, evidence of vote fraud and has issued this statement, calling for answers.

Flynn knows which hand feeds him.

It may be a matter of money and priorities for Flynn, but I still believe he can conduct these investigations if he wants to. Leaders hit obstacles every day and find ways around them. That’s what being a leader is all about, getting the job done in spite of the obstacles. Unless, of course, the “leader” really isn’t a leader but is more of a political animal who will do whatever it takes to secure his position.

Flynn comes from Massholechusetts where Democrats do as they damn well please and election laws are only enforced to keep the GOP out.
