ACORN is still being funded by our tax dollars. What does it take to drive a stake through the heart of this misbegotten MOVEON.ORG Obama affiliated monster?

MjM-a (Clinton appointee*) judge in NY has instructed federal agencies to resume shoveling money at ACORN because it’s “unConstitutional” not to. Someone will have to explain to me where the Constitution says the federal government should be giving any money to faux-charitable political organizations. People on the east coast should be prepared for a massive earthquake centered around Thomas Jefferson’s grave at Monticello.
* This seems important, because Hillary was on the ballot in 2000 for ACORN dba “Working[sic] Families Party”

If you have the time, drop a note of encouragement to Michigan Rep. Bart Stupak
Yes, he’s a Democrat. But on this he is right and his holding tight of his principles on this are to be commended.
(Thanks, Heather. I vaguely remember that now, but it won’t stand on appeal… that is… if the Opie admin does appeal. And yeesh, didja read that “interview”? Like slogging through molasses. What maroons!)

Apropos of nothing, if any of you follow the Badgers and/or Warriors out to Syracuse for the East Regional, and need dining tips, let me know.

In light of today’s news conference by Toyota, I give you, “Why the LA Runaway Prius story is a hoax”:
Toyota Camry:
3483lbs, 4-wheel Power disk brakes, 268hp@6200rpm
Toyota Prius:
3042lbs, 4-wheel Power disk brakes, 98hp@5200rpm
Now go read this.
Or, if you are too lazy, in a nutshell…
“With the Camry’s throttle pinned while going 70 mph, the brakes easily overcame all 268 horsepower straining against them and stopped the car in 190 feet — that’s a foot shorter than the performance of a Ford Taurus without any gas-pedal problem and just 16 feet longer than with the Camry’s throttle closed. From 100 mph, the stopping-distance differential was 88 feet—noticeable to be sure, but the car still slowed enthusiastically enough to impart a feeling of confidence. We also tried one go-for-broke run at 120 mph, and, even then, the car quickly decelerated to about 10 mph before the brakes got excessively hot and the car refused to decelerate any further. So even in the most extreme case, it should be possible to get a car’s speed down to a point where a resulting accident should be a low-speed and relatively minor event. - CarAndDriver
If the brakes on the Camry can overcome a “stuck pedal”, it’s 268hp V6, and 3483lbs at 100mph, there is no question the the brakes on the Prius could overcome 98 measly hp and 3042lbs at 80mph.

A relatively small number of DUI arrests this St. Pat’s…only 15 for the entire MPD…interestingly, but not surprising, is that 8 of 15 were repeat offenders. Glad to see people didn’t get too out of hand overall…or is this a result of fewer officers on the street?
