Jim Doyle’s Commerce Secretary, Dick Leinenkugel is going to announce today that he is running for the GOP nomination to run against Russ Feingold. Leinenkugel is going to need to convince Wisconsin Republicans that even though he spent a year and a half working for the corrupt Democratic Doyle administration, shepherding Wisconsin through massive job losses (unemployment rates went from 4.4% to 8.7%, that’s 166,900 jobs lost) and dirty deals like the Talgo, as well as the fact that he helped write Jim Doyle’s latest budget that raised taxes & fees by some $3.5 billion, he is a true republican, but he’s not!
Dick Leinenkugel is the very definition of a RINO, Republican In Name Only, and he must be stopped. Defeat Dick RINOkugel!

Dick RINOkugel was on the radio with WTMJ’s Charlie Sykes, and Charlie asked him some hard questions. It did not go well for RINOkugel.
Just a few quick comments I made on Twitter as the interview was going on:
The MacIver Institute’s Brian Fraley adds via Twitter: Dick Leinenkugel’s @SykesCharlie Interview will haunt him for the duration of his campaign. Train Wreck would be polite.

Once again I agree with you 100%. Leinenkugel sounds rational and might actually be a danger to Sen. Feingold. Surely there’s a classic wingnut on the bench the Republics can run instead?

Another moonbat liberal rears its head.

A Reagan Conservative who supports Combined Reporting…neato!
Even if you’re dumb enough to buy into all the distancing from Doyle this guy is doing, how can you say he did a good job as Sec. of Commerce with numbers like that?
Sounds like just another dishonest hack politician to me.

Notes on Obey’s challenger from NRO’s KJP.

What I don’t see in this discussion is an analysis of why LK is in this race, and who’s supporting him. And by that I mean the “follow the money” support. If your Russ you want to see Republicans in conflict over whom to support and vote for - it dilutes the brand even through the November election. So what’s really behind this candidacy???
April 27th, 2010 at 9:12 am
It doesn’t ‘dilute the brand’ as much as it splits the vote. With the lib-dems crossing over to vote for the RINO, and taking into consideration the name recognition factor, we could well have the most liberal U.S. Senator waltz back into another 6 years of trashing America.

Leinenkugel can claim he is a Klingon.
His track record doens’t support his lies.

Well, those so-called conservatives who couldn’t stomach voting for McCain or just withheld their vote in protest thereby making it possible for what’s going on now are going to get a chance to redeem themselves in November 2010. Insist on the perfect conservative candidate and you may as well put your head back up your ass again. Focus on the the greater of the two evils and vote against Feingold and the other Dems and we may begin to turn things around. Any moron should be able to understand that if Feingold, Obey, Kagen and the others win reelection we’ll continue our downward spiral.

Glenn: The LK candidacy is all about re-electing Russ, in my view. It’s not about splitting the vote, in all due respect, its about running a candidate that is so much like Russ that, what the hell, might as well vote for Russ…that’s what I meant by ‘diluting the brand.’ Republicans have not fielded exceptional candidates in many of the races they should easily win in November, and Wisconsin looks like one more example. If you’re Russ, you want your opponent to be as indistinguishable as possible; he might get what he wants.

I’ve thought about that. At this point I like Wall, but I’m not yet locked into him. What I am locked into though is that whoever wins the Republican Party primary will get my vote in November.

I received an e-mail from Russ Feingold in response to an e-mail I sent him last week.
Obama has nominated a extremist for the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, Goodwin Liu, who has among other things, endorsed reparations for slavery. He has a compelling life story but no judicial experience.
Years ago, I wrote asking him to support President Bush’s nomination to the DC Court of Appeals, Miguel Estrada.
He told me that while Estrada had a compelling life story, he had no judicial experience and therefore he could not support him.
So, I am asking him to be consistent and vote against Liu.
I hope that whoever gets the nomination, will debate Feingold and bring up this if he votes for Liu.

The mantra that must be repeated endlessly, loudly, and forcefully, at both the state and federal level, is that the BHO regime is a failed regime; not that it will fail, but that it has already failed. Any candidate willing to vocalize that sentiment will have my vote. “The era of Obama is over. His presidency has failed.” (Repeat).

P.S. Liberals already know this - it is the source of their frustration and anger and lashing out.
