So sorry to see this former pawn broker and prostitute-abuser take himself out of the race for Illinois lieutenant governor, as he had the capacity to become the second most embarrassing political gift to America ever to come out of the flatland.

We could have had a field day with this guy. As least he was refined enough to make his announcement at a bar, during halftime of the Super Bowl.

Illinois Democrats. Always classy folks.

How about officers & deputies in neighboring communities, I understand that they can no longer communicate with MPD, or monitor actions that may cross community lines, does that cause you a problem?

This radio system, for those that haven’t been following the story, is a digital trunked system that was supposed to be on line six years ago, but has never worked properly, even though more than $15 million has been spent to improve the system enough to use. This has also rendered all police scanners useless for following the Milwaukee Police Department.

Last year, New York canceled a $2 billion contract for an OpenSky system that had so many problems that they decided to cut their losses rather than continue to push a failed system.

RFK, Jr. 15 months ago: Global warming means no snow or cold in DC
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who flies around on private planes so as to tell larger numbers of people how they must live their lives in order to save the planet, wrote a column last year on the lack of winter weather in Washington, D.C.

In Virginia, the weather also has changed dramatically. Recently arrived residents in the northern suburbs, accustomed to today’s anemic winters, might find it astonishing to learn that there were once ski runs on Ballantrae Hill in McLean, with a rope tow and local ski club. Snow is so scarce today that most Virginia children probably don’t own a sled. But neighbors came to our home at Hickory Hill nearly every winter weekend to ride saucers and Flexible Flyers.

This weekend, Washington DC and the surrounding region received between 24 and 30 inches of snow, maybe RFK Jr. can fly in some more Eskimos to build him another igloo, like daddy did.

The good news is, when Barry loses his reelection, he has a job waiting for him. He will be the new national spokesman for Hooked On Phonics.

Schneider’s comment before a recent interview leaves the reporter speechless. If only the same could be said for Schneider.

Eventually, BuySeasons expanded in New Berlin, giving up on their hope to bring those jobs to Milwaukee’s inner-city. And since they expanded, they have done nothing but grow. They are now up to 284 full-time and 78 permanent part-time employees with an additional 2,000 leading up to Halloween. And that’s not all, they are still looking to hire another dozen software engineers, buyers, marketing, Internet and human resources professionals… But these jobs aren’t good enough for Milwaukee’s inner-city, we prefer the blight and unemployment that has plagued the area since our public servants ran these jobs out of town.

Buyseasons adds 84 full time, 41 part time jobs
Buyseasons Inc., the New Berlin operator of Buycostumes.com, has added 84 full-time and 41 part-time jobs, as a result of growth in sales and the 2008 acquisition of Celebration Express, a party products business.

The operations of Celebration Express, of Greensboro, N.C., were moved to Buyseasons New Berlin headquarters. As part of the integration of the businesses, printing operations were added to the New Berlin plant, said chief executive officer Jalem Getz.

“We are twice the size we were 18 months ago,” Getz said.

Add to this, more wonderful economic news for the area.

Metro Milwaukee lost 48,200 jobs in 2009
The four-county region that includes Milwaukee and Waukesha posted the third-biggest percentage decrease in employment among the nation’s 38 biggest metropolitan areas last year, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The number of people employed in non-farm labor in metro Milwaukee fell 48,200, or 5.7%, to 793,600 in the 12 months through December.
