A group of tree huggers is protesting global warming and demanding that leaders “take strong and fair action to reduce our CO2 gases.”
How will they protest this? By holding a candlelight vigil tomorrow (Friday) at 6 p.m. at Capitol Drive & Oakland Ave.
See anything wrong with this plan? Protesting global warming on a day that the high temp will be about 16, and as Dave Casper points out…
According to the National Candle Association (yes, there’s a National Candle Association):
A properly-formulated candle, whether scented or unscented, will primarily
produce water vapor and carbon dioxide when burning correctly.
Like I said, you can’t help but to laugh at these idiots.
UPDATE: Rally Update & Photos
I attended the rally this evening, the turnout was stunning… Stunningly small

Like I said in an earlier post, it is time to put together a group called Plant Protection Program and fight to protect the CO2 for plants so that they can make the Oxygen for us.

The NCA is being generous. In not-so-calm environments candles spew heavy particulates.
Here’s a suggestion for the protesters if’n they find it too cold.
Just tryin’ to help!

Burning candles and singing “We are the World” hasn’t had much effect on homicides or world hunger either.

MjM is kind. I suggest the tried-and-true protest tactic of self-immolation (yeah, it’s Wikipedia–I didn’t want to post a link with pictures).

Amen. What are the chances the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel would provide a blurb promoting a climate change skeptics candle light vigil?? I saw the blurb and thought about going down there to see how many fools attended…too cold.

What we really ought to do is drive down there – all in separate cars – and park nearby with our cars running (engines idling) all the while we’re watching them and laughing.

What we really need to do it go down there and have a bar-b-que with about a half dozen grills going.

A Climate Change Skeptics Tail Gate Party! Count me in…

What does Mr. Bullock have to say about this?
Surely, the small amount of carbon dioxide released is nothing compared to the awareness of the problem of global warming we will spread while standing on a corner in the snow freezing our asses off.
Theis will be offset by the purchase of carbon credits.
Candles (the production, shipping to market, burning) don’t really cause to the increase of global warming… um… climate change.
Your question is stupid, and anyone can look up the answer.
You are all racists.
This is nothing compared to the increase in CO2 caused by George Bush and Scott Walker.

I love the tailgate idea.
Charcoal…lots of charcoal…

The first reaction is always to laugh at idiots like this.
But now rather than being on ignorable periphery where they belong, these people:
http://www.break.com/index/hippies-wail-for-dead-trees.html
Now control your government.
They are ready to pass needless Cap & Trade legislation to destroy the domestic economy, declare harmless CO2 as a pollutant so they can regulate the exhalation of every living being on the planet, and sign an agreement in Copenhagen coercing U.S. Citizens to release their wealth to poor developing nations ruled by the U.N.’s gang of dictators.
I’m not sure we should be laughing anymore.

UPDATE: Rally Update Below
This evening after work, I took a little ride to see the massive candle light vigil that even made the news paper a day before the event. I arrived about 5:55 PM, then stood out in the 12° evening with a wind chill around 0° for about ten minutes, then I seen them moving in from the north… They came as a group… All 7 of them. Yep, 7. They waved their stupid signs and walked around the intersection waving at CO2 emitting vehicles flowed through this busy intersection. There was something missing though, no candles… I wonder if someone clued them in to how asinine it would be to burn CO2 emitting candles while protesting CO2 levels
I wish I would have brought the BadgerCam tonight, but I did snap a few cellphone pics. As I was leaving at about 6:20, I seen a TV news camera there, poor guy, had to cover a protest of 7.
Sorry about the quality, the cellphone cam doesn’t like the dark.

Average presstitute – “Seven protesters are worthy of wall-to-wall coverage. Seven hundred aren’t even a statistic.”

I’ll bet they went for some TEA afterwards.
December 11th, 2009 at 10:58 pm
If we all brought candles to DRINKING RIGHT, we’d make the URINAL fo shizzle.
