We come another step closer to the crook/slumloard we call the chairman of the Milwaukee county board, skating away with $165,000 from an anti-poverty agency and all of the 90 ethics charges against him.
This afternoon, on the Charlie Sykes show, John Carter, the chairman of the County Ethics Board called in live and announced that he and vice chairman Marian Monreal Cameron were resigning in protest over the coup Holloway and his supporters pulled off by voting to cut off the funding for the investigation. Remember, just a few months ago, Lee Holloway bragged to a reporter, that he was going to do this very thing. Charlie has the audio of Carter’s call as well as his conversation with Roger Quindel, which was held just before Carter’s call.

The chairman and the vice chairman of the Milwaukee County Ethics Board resigned today in protest over a County Board committee vote that could shut down the ethics prosecution of County Board Chairman Lee Holloway.John Carter and Maria Monreal-Cameron announced their departures one day after the County Board’s Finance Committee delayed action for one month on a $150,000 fund transfer to keep the case going. The vote was 4-3.
The resignations leave the six-member board with four members, although the County Board is expected to vote next week on Carter’s replacement. Carter had previously announced his intention to leave the board, but had intended to stay on until his successor was in place.
