Finally! Someone besides me wants to investigate Michael McGee Jr. (aka: Michael Jackson Jr.) Alderman Bob Donovan has the guts to call for multiple investigations of McGee/Jackson. Donovan is asking that U.S. Attorney Steve Biskupic look into the questions of McGee Jr. using two Social Security Numbers, as well as probes into McGee’s apparent perjury in the Kimly Rucker case, and he is asking the State Elections Board to investigate whether McGee ran for office and filled out campaign forms under an assumed name.
JS Online: Donovan calls for investigations of McGee
Milwaukee Ald. Bob Donovan called this afternoon for elected officials and the public to condemn Ald. Michael McGee for his attempts to shift cruisers into the lots and streets around Miller Park. But Donovan went far beyond that, launching an unusual political attack on a colleague that included calling for multiple investigations into allegations not related to cruising.
Donovan, whose near south side district includes the ballpark lots, called for Mayor Tom Barrett and Common Council President Willie Hines Jr. to formally rebuke McGee and for Hines to remove McGee from the council’s Public Safety Committee, which Donovan leads.
Furthermore, Donovan called on Milwaukee County District Attorney E. Michael McCann to investigate whether McGee committed perjury in testifying about a sexual relationship he later admitted to having; for U.S. Attorney Steve Biskupic to investigate whether McGee has two Social Security numbers; and for the state Elections Board to investigate whether McGee ran for office and filled out campaign forms under an assumed name.
The latter two comments refer to McGee’s abortive attempt to legally change his name from Michael Jackson, the name on his birth certificate, to Michael McGee, the name by which he has been known all his life.
Donovan said McGee “has stepped over the line” by inviting cruisers into Donovan’s district, and that left Donovan no choice but to fight back for his constituents.
McGee did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Way to go Alderman Donovan! I am sure you will be called a racist too, but you are doing the right thing, you know it, and those that call you the names know it too, that’s why they are so upset. But keep fighting the good fight!
UPDATE 7/7
The paper has an updated and extended story up today.
Nonetheless, McGee moved ahead over the weekend, sending out e-mails that invited cruisers to a street near Miller Park. He and Ald. Willie Wade claimed 80 cars and 160 people showed up for two nights of “Crenshaw-style cruising” – with cars parked in a line – and that they remained peaceful toward each other and police.
But Police Department spokeswoman Anne E. Schwartz said officers did not see the large number of cruisers at Miller Park that McGee reported. By contrast, illegal cruising was reported Tuesday, near N. 27th St. and W. Capitol Drive and at N. 24th St. and W. North Ave., she said.
And on Los Angeles’ Crenshaw Blvd., which McGee cited as his model, authorities are cracking down on cruising, which has deteriorated into gang-related shootings.
Willie Wade seems to be distancing himself slightly from McGee, but says: “he hadn’t seen anything yet that warranted a formal rebuke or removal from a committee.

Don’t forget that Donovan is the guy who was indicted on a federal charge for defrauding the government. He barely avoided going to prison for his misconduct. He is hardly an example of what I would give credit for courage and leadership. This has more to do with Donovan personal dislike for McGee than anything else. Here is what you said about this guy in the past. http://badgerblogger.com/?p=2213
Or is it that you like anybody who hates McGee regardless of looking at that person.

That charge was dropped John.

He’s still no better, if he was accused then he’s guilty, that’s the American (Wisconsinite) way, right?
You simplify things to justify them and point to the wrong thing. He too was charged. If I recall the charges were dismissed because they (prosecutors) did not know Donovan look like them.
It’s Friday and just wilding out.
