District Attorney wannabe Larraine McNamara-McGraw actually accused the police of shooting 13 year old murder victim Candace Moss. This woman is both uninformed and apparently extremely desperate, because she said this AFTER a 17 year old boy admitted to doing the shooting.

But an unexpected chapter was added to the tragedy Saturday when Larraine McNamara-McGraw, a Democratic candidate for Milwaukee County district attorney, asked if police had something to do with the slaying.
“I’m wondering who might have shot this child. The paper (Journal Sentinel) said errant shots or bullets. Is it possible police shot that child?” McNamara-McGraw said during a candidates forum at the Milwaukee chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
John Chisholm, an assistant district attorney and McNamara-McGraw’s rival, interrupted and said, “We already arrested a person for shooting that girl.”
Why would anyone want to vote for a District Attorney that despises the police so much? She wants to be the top law enforcement official, but has zero trust in the police officers that she will be dealing with every day.0 She has such a hate for these cops that she seems to think that they are out just randomly shooting little girls… Unbelievable!
This is the same woman that just a few days ago said, “on day one she will “let all (assistant district attorneys) know that they will issue no charges, particularly against people of color, for non-violent alleged possession with intent to deliver of any kind of drug.†She also said she “wouldn’t allow prosecutors to rely on police testimony about alleged confessions without corroborating evidence.â€
During yesterdays debate, she also said that she expected the election for Milwaukee County district attorney “to be about race because race matters.” She also said, said she would “end white juries,” and the “imprisonment of non-violent based drug felons” No Ms. McNamara-McGraw, the job is about fighting crime, no matter who does it or where it happens. Drugs lead to violence here in the real world, only a fool would think otherwise. And to think that ending charging of black criminals is somehow going to be more fare to the black community, please remember that most of the victims to these black drug dealers are black them selves, so this insane policy will disproportionately harm that community.
Is there any doubt left that McNamara-McGraw is a howling moonbat? If you think that this is the type of person that should be the D.A., you obviously care nothing for our community. She is proudly announcing that drug dealers will no longer be charged if they are black… Do you think that will help with the inner-city drug problem? We tell our kids to stay away from drugs, but the top law enforcement official in the county says it isn’t a crime to her?
Lew Wasserman, the independent running for the seat also chimed in, saying that he holds Jogn Chisholm, “‘responsible personally’ for racial disparities since he helped set up the Operation Ceasefire task force, a federal-state initiative targeting firearms violence. Wasserman said African-Americans constitute the vast majority of those who are prosecuted under the program.” The majority of those charged under this program are black, because the majority of the people doing the shooting on our streets are black, should they just turn these killers loose? –Linear thought people…Give it a try sometime.–
I can’t believe that I am about to make this next comment, but Milwaukee would be better off with E. Michael McCann(t) than we would be with McNamara-McGraw. Thank God she is saying these things now so we can see how insane this woman’s positions are. I am glad that I will be crossing over to vote in the Democratic primary, so I have a chance to vote for John Chisholm. The alternative is to dangerous to even consider.
Peter is so frustrated, he’s ready to ABOLISH THE D.A.’S OFFICE IN MILWAUKEE?. I’m not willing to go that far yet, I like what Chisholm says, I just wish he would say it more often and someplace that we can hear it. I also pray that he will accomplish the reforms that he says he will undertake when he is District Attorney. For the sake of our community, I hope he isn’t another McCann(t) light.

This is exactly why I and many conservatives are crossing over to vote in the Democratic primary. I believe that it will harm Paul Bucher’s run for A.G., but for us in Milwaukee, the above scenario is unacceptable.

You really have to wonder what’s in the water. My skepticism on Chisholm is based on the principle (at least in the business world) that hand-picked successors almost never measure up to the one who is leaving … and McCann has been an embarrassment).
Chisholm is clearly the best of a bad lot. And that ain’t saying much.

You need to get your facts straight. I never advocated nor do I believe that black males arrested for CCW, if they are convicted felons, be released or not prosecuted. My criticism of operation Ceasefire stems from the choice made by those running the program, which includes Chisholm, to refer many of those cases to the US Attorney for federal prosecution – for which the potential penalties are substantially higher – at least 15 years minimum, to life. Of those referred to federal authorities for these increased penalties, over 90% have been black, and 6% have been white. And all the referrals to federal court are discretionary, meaning that its a choice made by the state prosecutor, which means, among others, Chisholm. Those are the facts. First acknowledge the facts, and then feel free, as you always do, to make of them what you will. But being an ideologue is no substitute for being knowledgeable.

Gees, Mr. Wasserman, you seem to be whining about these violent offenders having to face stiffer penalties from federal prosecution. In addition, you doing it at the same time that a family is burying a bright intelligent sweet 13-year girl.
What you do not seem to understand, Mr. Wasserman, is that the black community, the white community, the Hispanic community and the entire Wisconsin community are all crying out to the three candidates that we have had enough.
We want the violent criminals off our streets! We want stiffer penalties for violent criminals!
I question whether any of the candidates for Milwaukee DA actually give a rip about the Candice’s of the world because they are too busy protecting the rights of the criminals.
Mr. Wasserman, do you or either of your opponents have the stones to actually put these criminals in prison? This question must be answered.
What we just read from you, Mr. Wasserman is a complaint that “potential penalties are substantially higher – at least 15 years minimum, to life.â€
What we really needed to hear from you Mr. Wasserman is that children like Candice really do matter and that you have every intention of keeping her killer off of the streets of Milwaukee for as long as possible.
The disease of second-rate justice seems to have spread throughout Wisconsin. In Madison, Racine and even here in Kenosha, violent crime is up.
Here is Kenosha, I have also been asked to vote for a wimpy democrat or a wimpier democrat. I will not cross over and vote for either candidate. My vote stays with Paul Bucher.
I believe that it is time to fix our justice system and the only way to do that is to start at the top.
Patrick- sorry for busting in on you blog. I just read these comments and I had to respond. You keep fighting for justice for Candice and do not be deterred. The Candice’s of the world deserve a voice. Thank you for providing that voice.

I don’t know what the source is of those statistics is, and to quote Rhett Butler: “Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.”
There are liars, damned liars and statistics. The one critical statistic that Mr. Wasserman failed to cite is: 100% of the thugs are criminals.

Candice’s killer will be kept off the streets, and the length of the incarceration will be, in large part, determined by the charge filed. At the debate I objected to calling the shot an ‘errant’ shot, as so many have, because it was a shot that should never have been fired. But you are confusing the issue. African-Americans, probably more than anyone, want their community to be safe, and want criminals held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. And I agree. But this desire for peaceful streets does not come with a willingness to dispense with civil liberties, or to accept racially disparate enforcement. Regarding the source of “those statistics”, start with: http://www.jsonline.com/news/metro/jan03/113589.asp . Then just ‘google’ for more information on the program, and the impact of racial profiling and enforcement. Then, instead of quoting Rhet Butler in a discussion about race, think about why nothing done to this date by the DAs office seems to have stemmed the tide of violence. Then we can talk. Anytime.

I agree Peter. No matter what color a person is, if they are the bad guys, then they should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. Children dying on the streets, just because they are there, has become way too common in Milwaukee.

I don’t care what the race of the shooter is, if the feds have the tools to lock them up longer, I say do it! I am not going to get upset that 90% are of one race is getting these harsher charges, unless you can show me that a disproportionate number of people of other races are getting sofer treatment, if that is what is happening, the system should be changed, not to bring the harsh treatment down, but by raising the lenient penalties to the level that the feds are capable of doing. I’m not going to lose any sleep over some killer getting a harsh sentence. The only people that I want to be “fair” to is the victims of violent crime.
Lew, I really do appreciate your willingness to share your views, since we don’t get to see much in the paper. I don’t know that we will ever see eye to eye on this, I am probably somewhere to the right of Attila The Hun on crime issues, but I respect that you are willing to put up with us. Don’t get me wrong, I am not sold on Chisholm, although I will be voting for him in the primary, Mac-Mac would be a disaster and I will not allow that to happen to Milwaukee. After next Tuesday, I know you will still be out there driving your points home on why you, and not Chisholm would be better to lead this rudderless District Attorneys Office.

As a police officer of 8 years, I am appauled by the comments of this woman who is looking to be the head of criminal prosecution in Milwaukee County. I am from Wisconsin and I am looking to move back from Colorado, but I certainly will not work in a county where this lady presides. Oh, and I am an female African-America too. When is someone going to take charge there and protect citizens of Milwaukee County?
