The Alderman made the news again, all in all, I’d say it was a pretty embarrassing day, even for him.
First, the Restraining Order from Leon Todd against him was granted.
Speaking of the restraining order, we learned the other day that the Sheriffs Department had some trouble tracking McGee down to serve him with the order. Today, more details have come out, and it doesn’t put The Alderman in a good light.
Mark Belling obtained a copy of the Sheriffs Department report on the efforts it took them to serve The Alderman, it includes something that, for any other elected official, would be a stunning news story.
After a week of McGee dodging the Sheriff, a Sheriffs Deputy heard The Alderman on the radio, so he drove to 20th & Capitol, where the WNOV studios are. When he went into the building, he was asked to wait until a commercial break. When the commercial break started, the deputy walked into the studio and was told that The Alderman left through another entrance.
Remember this the next time The Alderman talks about taking personal responsibility!
Can you imagine ANY other elected official getting away with something like this? And not only getting away with it, he is playing the victim card now, claiming that the Sheriffs Department mistreated him… What a load!
You can listen to Mark Belling’s report here. It is the first item.

Here is another example of how the Mcgee family operates. The alderman’s family runs a non-profit service called the Prescription Advocacy Referral service which charges the poor and elderly $30.00 to get information on how to get access to free prescription medication from pharmaceutical companies. This information is available FREE OF CHARGE from many internet sites, other agencies and even in pharmacies. These forms are one page forms that anyone can obtain and file for themselves.
This alone strikes me as taking advantage people, but when you find out the Mcgee referral service received in excess of $100,000 from a local foundation to run this service it becomes even more questionable. There are other for profit concerns that run the same sad scam but these charge $5.00 at most.
One wonders if the Prescription Advocay service was set up for the purpose of gathering funds that are then funneled to the Mcgee radio show via advertising fees that in turn pay Mcgee Sr’s salary and allows Mcgee Jr a platform to spew his brand of hate? All the while generating a nice income for the mcgee family.

Tim, I admit that I don’t know a lot about the Prescription Advocacy and Referral Service, but they do seem to help a lot of low income elderly get prescription drugs at a reduced cost. They have said on the air that the information they use is freely avaliable, but as is the case with most government agencies and pharmaceutical companies, it is time consuming and there is plenty of red tape that many elderly would have trouble getting through. Personally, from what I have heard, I think it is a worth while service, but I admit that I have never dug into it.
As someone that works with a lot of inner city elderly, I am not going to accuse this program of being a bad thing. If it is legitimate, and they can help people cut the red tape for $30, I think that is a good thing. So I am NOT ready to pass judgment on this program, but if you have facts to substantiate the claim, I’d like to see them.
By the way, I don’t know that there is an actual family connection, the lady that runs the program spells her name McGhee. And remember that McJr. and McSr. have a real last name of Jackson… So who knows?
