Democrats have been trying to convince someone to run against County Executive Scott Walker, and it looks like they finally have one. Joe Klein has filed for and declared his candidacy today.

By checking his Bio page, we can see that he is yet another East Side tree hugging liberal (oh, they prefer to be called “progressive” now) that wants to make Milwaukee taxpayers pay for a light rail choo-choo that no one will ride… except maybe himself, since he claims to have taken the city bus downtown to register as a candidate. (Psst… Joe, spell check).

I’m sure Walker is shaking in his boots with this guy…

    From JSOnline:
Joe Klein, a computer consultant who finished a distant third (5%) in the 2004 executive primary.

  2. ross Says:

Scott Walker is the best person in Milwaukee county politics. (Sheriff Clarke is a close second) I say bring on Joe Klein and anyone else they don’t have a chance.

  3. Peter Says:

Daffy Duck is running against Walker? Now that’th dethpicable!

  4. capper Says:

A little loose with the facts there, Patrick. First, Klein ran independently, for what is supposed to be a non-partisan seat. Secondly, at the time of this writing, Klein is running unopposed, as that Walker hasn’t yet announced that he will be running for the re-election that he promised he wouldn’t run for.

You think Walker is good, that’s fine. But try to be accurate. Or would that hurt the perception too much?

  5. mickey Says:

    Crapper, excellent post.
    1) Klein did run as an independent when he got 5%!
2)And Walker who is also “independent” isn’t running.
3)Sheriff Richard Clarke IS a Democrat.
4)Governor Doyle did say “I WILL NOT RAISE TAXES”.

“”You think Walker is good, that’s fine. But try to be accurate. Or would that hurt the perception too much?”"
    Wow!

Bruce has you pegged Crapper. Where is it that you blog again Mr. C? I’d like to let Patricks blog readers get some idea of who you associate with, as you are very honest.

James is right….I remember him from my old USENET days…he posted to milw.general and that got me to wondering about him to…..go to google groups and google his name…you’ll find all sorts of techno posts from him, but NO political posts.

I think I’m being talked about… I mean, what other “local right wing blogger often refer to rail mass transit as ‘choo-choos.’“?

I guess I’ll need another Choo-Choo picture, or maybe I can just add a car onto the Tommyville ChooChoo… But that car would have to be wrapped in aluminum foil ;-)

    ChooChoo

  9. Pete Fanning Says:

Yeah..that’s the other thing…he appears to be BIG on light rail…

  10. Bruce Says:

From the Joe Klein-touted “impartial study” (LOL), check out page 5, where they describe “traditional” users of rail transit, and this is a direct quote from the study he wants you all to look at, so don’t shoot the messenger here, as “older, non-family, non-white households”

That is clearly the most racist liberal trash I’ve read in a while… talk about the bigotry of low expectations… I’d rather we help these “non-family, non-white” (his study’s words, not mine) people get themselves out of a lifestyle of poverty so they can have the self-empowerment to buy cars if they so choose, instead of just building a useless light rail system that only further burdens them to rely on government for their every need. What freaking arrogance. Anyone who doesn’t understand how smug and arrogant the myth of liberalism has become should go right to page 5 of that little piece of propaganda he has on his website. This is a guy who thinks his management is in the best interest of a dying community? Dear god.

What champions of Mr. Klein’s TOD (“transit oriented development”) seem to ignore is that most people don’t want to focus their entire lives around a 3 block radius. And honestly, when was the last time you saw major commercial or residential development going on around a transit hub? Every transit hub I’ve ever seen seems to cause the neighborhood it’s built in to look like a war zone in almost record time.

Sorry to say, Walker has got to go – but this guy isn’t my man for the job.

I am so tired of “name dropper” wanta be’s. How about getting a real, down to earth person for the job. One that understands the “common folk”.

I’ll tell ya, I couldn’t even read his whole bio – every year of to much information? Geez, like your Fortune 500 people aren’t your clients. Your clients here are the regular people that live in the city.

As much as I would love a light rail system (ducking behind keyboard) I certainly wouldn’t vote for this guy. Hope someone better comes along.

  13. marge Says:

WAIT – I just watched all those videos! If he is going to talk like that on camera, then what do you think is going to be like speaking in public? OMG – PLEASE NO, NNNNOOOOOOO

  14. marge Says:

Sorry, but if you watch the videos, you are going to wonder how someone like that is talking to “Fortune 500 companies”. WHERE is the confidence? WHERE is something concrete? Hello, we are taking the bus to file papers? Hope that isn’t used for a vote for me commercial!
