Senator Lena Taylor thinks she is qualified to run Milwaukee County, but she made a fool of herself on the floor of the State Senate when she showed that she is totally confused by voting on a simple amendment. As her fellow Democrat, Tim Carpenter suggests at the end of this video, Lena Taylor needs to do her homework

It is now perfectly clear to me what Lena Taylor means when she says that she would work and communicate well with some members of the County Board if she is elected County Executive.

OMG…Priceless!!!
“Completely and Utterly Confused” – Lena Taylor
If that doesn’t say it all, I don’t know what does.
(I wonder if she blames Scott Walker???)

I can’t think of anyone more qualified to… umm… well… ah…
On another note, the caption said something about a vote to increase the size of the Milwaukee Fire and Police Commision. My understanding is that a vocal minority wants this increase in the FPC so that it can justify punishing police officers involved in citizen complaints (notice, I did not make mention of a police officer doing anything wrong).
Are they going to hold another vote to increase the size of the Milwaukee Police Department?
I should know better: they don’t really care about the victims of crime, only the suspects.

Finally, the Peter Principle catches up.

She’s running the race on a single issue, which is race. With Obama the likely nominee and next president, the time is right for such as her ilk to ride his coattails into office. Can you spell Reconstruction?

Poor thing… I’m sure the confusion can be blamed on poor preparation from her staff. Heads should roll.

Poor thing. We can be sure the confusion should be blamed on poor preparation from her staff. Heads should roll.

We can have some fun with this. I suggest that any site that supports Lena and allows comments we should put a link in the comments to this video.

Ron (#4), Milwaukee has been experiencing the Peter Principle in the administration of its government agencies for at least 20 years. It’s to a point now where something like this seems almost normal to most people in Milwaukee.

While serving on a committee with LT, I heard a great deal of this sort of rambling. Off the floor, with no cameras present, she seemed almost intelligent. Get the cameras, or an audience of any sort, and she did her utmost to completely confuse the issue.

Glenn, I too believe that we’ve seen standards fall in the last 20 years. On the other hand, there are many coorporate minions that could easily run circles around most executives of 40 years ago. So, maybe it’s a wash.
Time for a new term…”The Patronizing Principle”: Expectations fall to the level of lowest competency.
February 25th, 2008 at 5:22 pm
It’s almost like she was attempting to reprise Abbott and Costello’s “Who’s on First” as a monologue. I wonder if it qualifies as plagiarism?
February 25th, 2008 at 5:58 pm
You people laugh.. she may very well get in.
You have no idea how much the county unions and other government workers hate Walker.. plus you completely disregard the race issue. Obama only got as far as he did with his race and appealing to not only blacks but the young and dumb voters who want to prove how “non judgemental and open minded” they are.
February 25th, 2008 at 6:02 pm
With Obama on the ticket, there’s no question that people inclined to support Lena Taylor will all turn out to the polls. Whether we can turn out enough conservative votoers to outnumber her is a good question, since most of us feel we have “no dog in the hunt” for president.

Big_hairy_bubba…the election is April 1st. (and YES, WE would be the April fools to elect Lena) The Presidential race isn’t until November. She will not be getting any boost from Obama.
February 25th, 2008 at 6:17 pm
Corbin, there are plenty of black folks out there that don’t appreciate Lena’s position on school choice. She has been less than helpful in that regard. They are a pretty vocal group.

Calvin – Not as much boost from Obama as if they were on the same ballot, but I believe still a boost by giving the “community” something to be excited about.
Blacks going to vote against LT over school choice? Or just not go vote? You won’t convince me that they’ll vote for a white candidate if a black one is on the ticket. That day might come yet, but it won’t be anytime soon.

Contrast Lena Taylor’s confusion with Scott Walker’s common sense.

You can not tell me …that after that…you were not confused. Without seeing the documentation and hearing the whole thing…..IT WAS CONFUSING. She admited that she was confused…That states a lot to her character…She Needed clarity. Most people would never admit to needing help…..She was not to proud to ask for clarity and correct her mistake…..THAT SHOWS A LOT. This does not make her look bad it Actually make her look smart and not prideful…GO LENA!!!
February 26th, 2008 at 8:01 pm
A legislator with her years of experience not being able to understand a very common procedure does not make her look good, and this isn’t the first time she has shown this ineptness. Must be Scott Walker’s fault.
February 26th, 2008 at 9:58 pm
I axe the video be expunge.
February 26th, 2008 at 10:16 pm
Is Sherman a troll or is he actually that illiterate and stupid?
No offense Sherman, even when I’m doing my schtick, I use better spelling syntax and grammar. I also make more sense.
Maybe you too should admit to needing help.
Don’t be prideful Sherman. Show us your character. Tell us you need clarity and that you are confused. Then ask for our vote.
February 27th, 2008 at 8:37 am
Anyone who defends or votes for Lena Taylor is mentally ill.
February 28th, 2008 at 9:22 pm
WOW! That MPS schooling really shines through!
March 3rd, 2008 at 5:17 pm
Wow. Wow. I am amazed that an elected official could put on such a display of total ineptness. And – for people on here to be cheering her on! (Sherman) Get a clue. This lady isn’t fit for office.
She did not look smart – she looked like an idiot.
March 4th, 2008 at 9:34 pm
I think it’s interesting to note that, apparently, Ms. Taylor wasn’t the only one confused.
Her motion for reconsideration was passed 28-5, and the previously passed amendment was defeated.
Far from an apologist for boobery in the legislature, but I think editing the clip to only this part is somewhat misleading…
http://www.legis.state.wi.us/2007/data/SB390hst.html
She might be an idiot, but obviously she was an idiot with a somewhat legitimate point.
March 9th, 2008 at 10:01 am
If stupid is too harsh to describe Ms Taylor.
Try Ignorant
March 29th, 2008 at 10:37 am
I’m glad Lena admitted she was confused…I would be confused in an operating room, so I’m not a Surgeon. I would be confused driving a taxi in New York so I’m not a N.Y. Taxi driver. Seems if she wants to be a Senator she should know how the Senate works and the language that goes with it. I agree with Dale, Ignorant is how she comes off. Maybe she is in the wrong profession. Admitting she was CONFUSED SHOWED ALOT….SHE IS WELL BEYOND HER SCOPE OF UNDERSTANDING!!

I had not seen this video until now and I must say I have never seen such a lack of abililty to do your job. At first I actually thought this was a joke. This proves to me African Americans need to do their homework before giving their votes strictly to Black-only candidates.
