Q: Gabe Bosler of Tosa – Ms. Taylor: I have heard that the reason Scott Walker got kicked out of Marquette is because he plagiarized. Any truth to that?

A: Lena Taylor – Thanks Gabe for getting involved in this online discussion. I don’t know if there is any validity to Walker being kicked out of school, nor is that the issue. I believe getting an education is a very important issue, especially in a county where less than 20% of residents have higher education degrees.

The fact that Scott Walker, for whatever reason, never obtained a diploma from Marquette University is a fact known to most Milwaukee County residents, but Bosler’s statement “the reason he [Walker] got kicked out” implies pretty strongly that Walker having been “kicked out” of Marquette is an accepted fact.

I communicated this afternoon with the Walker campaign, and speaking through Campaign Chair Tim Russell, Scott Walker “categorically rejects as false any allegation of his having been kicked out of Marquette.” Mr. Walker offers the further clarification that he “left Marquette with a few credits to go… in order to accept a full-time job with The Red Cross”.

Badger Blogger readers, you need to understand the following: The candidates had the opportunity to review most of the questions submitted for their online chats ahead of time. (Click here to see a transcript of Walker’s March 25 online chat.) They had time to prepare their responses. They were able to determine which questions they were willing to answer, and which questions they would reject.

Lena Taylor chose to field this question, and the J/S apparently didn’t discourage her. If Taylor is sincere when she claims the allegation of Walker being “kicked out” of Marquette is “not the issue”, why specifically choose to accept the question and allow this lie to be published?

You can see a transcript of the entire online chat at this link. The Journal / Sentinel editors have removed the accusatory question from the transcript of the chat, but you can see a full, unsanitized version of the transcript at this link, including the full text of “Gabe Bosler of Tosa’s” question to Ms. Taylor.

  1. Calvin Says:

That she chose to answer the question reveals a great deal about her character and judgment. She’s not worthy to hold office. Period.

I appreciate the fact that the J/S decided that it was baseless and took it off of her transcript.

  2. Patrick Says:

They removed the question… Trying to un-ring the bell?

  3. HeatherRadish Says:

If the candidates received “most” of the questions in advance, why wasn’t that question removed?

    (rhetorical)

  4. folkbum Says:

I would expect that Taylor took the question because education and encouraging higher education among the young people of this county has been as theme of hers for as long as I’ve known her.

Anyway, the story I’ve heard–from reliable sources–is that Walker left Marquette after losing an student government election. To a write-in candidate.

  5. Calvin Says:

That’s crap Folkbum…she had already taken her shot at Walker for not having a degree. This was an additional question.

She is a classless person to have accepted the question and put the baseless claim out there.

    Oh…”A reliable source”….from Folkbum. That’s precious.

The only reaching out to young people I see from her is her Hug-a-Thug campaign.

  6. TheIdealVoice Says:

Calvin get a grip, please. I keep seeing that the candidates saw “most” of the questions, most not all, so could it be safe to say this is one of the questions she did not see prior to, and how did she put the claim out there? Did she ask herself the question? No she pushed it to the side, discrediting at as a non issue, yet grabbed at a chance to comment on education.
Also please stop with the hug a thug garbage, it is divisive and childish, and easily discredited as classic right wing fear mongering.

  7. Calvin Says:

No TIV…they have the opportunity to skip ANY question. She saw it and she chose to put it out there. So YOU get a grip.

Sorry…when she stops creating laws assisting thugs and blocking laws that stop them…I’ll stop saying she has a “Hug-A-Thug” campaign. But until then…nope.

  8. Dan Says:

Obviously, TIV, you are not around here. Hug a Thug has been around a long time. Ever since mayor of Tosa hugged Michael McGee. I guess they don’t get that information in Mazomanie.

  9. mickey Says:

Oh no Dan, TheIdealTroll is from 21st and Walnut. Don’t be so divisive.

  10. Bruce Says:

Anyone who participates in these J/S Online chats is given the opportunity to review each question before responding, whether they were submitted well before the chat began, or submitted during the course of the chat.

They have the right to reject questions that they have no desire to respond to, as well as cherry-pick the lobbed-up softballs that their minions (using fake names) are willing to toss up on their behalf.

    These are facts.

  11. TheIdealVoice Says:

Fine, Calvin, have your view and I will have mine.
Dan, I only started hearing that term, during this election and only from those on the right, since even the MSM attempt to keep some garbage off the pages. Please don’t talk about Mcgee, he is a terrible official with a racist and homophopic take on inner city issues, and deserves the full strength of the justice system.
I have only lived in madison for about a year, and have no clue what Mazomanie is, or where it is so please stop, I live on Henry and Gillman IN MADISON, WISCONSIN, but grew up on 21st and Walnut, not sure why that is such a confusing issue.
Mickey, while I would assume from the way you guys keep giving each right wing tug jobs, that this is how you commonly attack people who think differently than you, but please learn the definiton of an internet troll, before you use it. Unless, I wrongly entered this arena of partisan stroke jobs, seeking to have a rational discussion with people of opposing viewpoints, and by attacking me, you would like me to leave so you can move on to the conservative blowbang that you have planned for each other. I assumed since Patrick McIlheran had you on his blog list, that I would find the rare reasonable conservative, but sadly, I was mistaken.

  12. Bruce Says:

Some people have a penchant for internet debate.

Wow, that Germaine Z. Stemme gives new meaning to the word “snarky”. I feel for you brother, that was out of left field.

  13. mickey Says:

    TheIdealTroll has spoken.

  14. Dan Says:

Henry and Gilman? I used to live there. Which building do you live in?

  15. mickey Says:

Imagine Scott being asked. Dear Urinal-Sentinel. Did Lena Taylor know that Fidel Castro was a Communist when she bore his love child?
Scott answers: Thank you for asking. I appreciate your involvement in the political process. I have no idea whether Lena’s love child is the spawn of Castro or not, but thanks for asking.

It’s typical. Libs will defend it, because libs have NO MORALS.

  16. mickey Says:

Did the TROLL just spell Gilman wrong?

  17. TheIdealVoice Says:

    braley house-422 North Henry.

  18. Zach W. Says:

I think it’s ironic to see mickey of all people calling someone else a troll…

  19. capper Says:

The name of the person that quashed Walker at Marquette is named Jack Quigley. He has some sort of advertising or PR agency in Chicago.

I’m not too sure about the year Walker dropped out. I’ve heard that it may have been as early as his sophomore year. Do we have anything besides Walker’s word for when he dropped? (This is a serious question, not a snarky one)

  20. mickey Says:

Zach the Seagull. Flies past drops his crap and flies away.

  21. mickey Says:

    Look at CRAPPER.
That is all you need to know about liberals.
The are immoral and would rape their own mother for power.

  22. TheIdealVoice Says:

Mickey, I will assume that you have some unresolved issues with your pimp. Please take them around the corner or over to that garbage can in the alley, so adults with self-esteem can mingle and discuss without your drunk girl at the party outbursts.

  23. mickey Says:

IdealTroll, MATC is a very very tough school.
You may need to get some sleep before your “hair-cut 101″ exam, or possibly your…”we need more SOCIAL-WELFARE exam”.

    Class dismissed troll.

  24. TheIdealVoice Says:

Dismissing an instituton of higher education is a classic example of elitism. I am sure you don’t know what that means, but regardless. Unless you attended an Ivy League, I would ask that you please stop jerking to Friedman and Hayek, before your keyborad gets sticky. People need haircuts and I don’t dismiss anyone learning a trade for which to make money, and social welfare has to do with the welfare of soicety most people believe studying that benefits mankind. Anwser me this: who do you go down on to get your neoliberal ideas, David Frum or John Fund? Lastly, only a real troll or noob would call out his own pwn attempt or success.

  25. capper Says:

    mickey

You disgusting little mouse turd. My mother is dead, and I would kindly ask you to respect that fact. But since you are obviously incapable of answering the question, I will ask the adults on this site, if they can answer my honest question.

  26. mickey Says:

Crapper, you are completely without any sort of morality. You are RODHAM. You try and spin and wiggle to find any way to win.
The fact that your mother is dead is being USED by you.
    CRAPPER, you suck.
    Nice try lib.
CRAPPER, you USE your DEAD MOTHER. And you don’t care. You’re a loser son.
CRAPPER, think about it. You are USING your DEAD MOTHER. You should be so proud CRAPPER.

  27. mickey Says:

    Let me be clear friends.
    CRAPPER IS A DEMOGOGUE.
Don’t be suckered by the PHONY.
CRAPPER brought his MOTHERS DEATH into a BLOG debate, BECAUSE THAT IS HOW LIBERALS OPERATE.
If any of you can reasonably find that I have in any way made SPORT of CRAPPERS dead mom, then tell me.
The “MY MOMMY IS DEAD” card has been played by a MORALLY BANKRUPT LIBERAL FRAUD.
I will not apologize to CRAPPER.
He has made his MOTHERS DEATH part of this blog.

  28. mickey Says:

    IdealTroll, you are funny.

Go to sleep, you might need to give a “haircut” tomorrow for your final exam!!!

  29. dad29 Says:

IdealTroll, the “hug-a-thug” monicker was applied to Mayor-ette Esteness of ‘Tosa after her dalliance with McGee.

The soubriquet is appropriate as applied to Ms. Taylor, whose legislative record supports the implied accusation.

You’ve been in Madison and may have missed the events.

  30. Dan Says:

“Do we have anything besides Walker’s word for when he dropped”
Really, capper, what difference does it make? I realize you hate the man. Maybe it is because he is a conservative kicking the butts of democrats in Milwaukee County. Who knows, but your question really doesn’t matter. The fact is that he is a very successful person, even if he dropped out of college. He must be doing something right to keep getting elected.

  31. Calvin Says:

Hey Bruce…I followed your link in comment 12. It’s good to know that “TheIdealVoice” doesn’t limit his elitist label to just people on this blog. Seems that anyone that doesn’t see it exactly his way is an elitist. That’s his fall back when he doesn’t have an argument. He calls you an elitist and accuses you of fear mongering. (oh…and he throws in racist and bigot sometimes too)

And Capper…Really, is that all you can bring up? Is that the best you can do? I realize it’s hard to find ANYTHING to defend Lena on…but come on. That’s pretty pathetic even for you.

  32. mjonthemove Says:

    lame! not blog-worthy.

  33. grumps Says:

Just so I know how this works…

If someone asks a legitimate question that you disagree with, then that’s pathetic. Right?

If someone with only a modest nod to literacy and coherence assaults the memory of someone’s departed family then that’s not worthy of so much as an admonition?

Just checking on the values sytem for this thread.

Look Mickey, it’s a squirrel. Go get the squirrel. Good Mickey.

  35. Amy P. Says:

What a joke. What’s it to any of you liberals if Scott Walker didn’t finish school?

Oh, wait – that’s right. He’s conservative. He’s anti-tax. He’s held the line on promises and worked to clean up Milwaukee County government.

Is there a requirement that County Executives have a college degree? I don’t think so.

So this isn’t a big deal. I’d be more worried that Taylor doesn’t seem to have even a basic understanding of County Executive duties or how county government works. And that’s *with* a college degree.

  36. mickey Says:

Grumps you have no morals at all. CRAPPER brought his DEAD MOTHER into the conversation. Like most liberals you don’t care about morality honesty or decency. CRAPPER’S mother and her unfortunate demise was never mentioned here until HE MENTIONED IT.
    You’re a hack Grumps. And a sissy.

  37. folkbum Says:

Well, no, Mickey, actually you brought up capper’s mother, in comment 21. Perhaps to you words like “liberals [...] would rape their own mother[s] for power” are empty phrases, as devoid of meaning to your ears as the sound of wind in trees. But to others–I dare say, most–the idea of raping one’s mother is one that carries a powerful meaning and ought to ellicit significant reaction. That thr sentence can spring from your fingertips without so much as leaving the memory of its having done so suggests something about you, dear friend, not about those who take exception to your vulgarity.

  38. TheIdealVoice Says:

dad29-I don’t keep up with what Mcgee does, other than to be sad for the people in his district. Yes I was here, but every non-important news story is not talked about in my life. I was more upset when he called an elected official a f**. I have been in Madison and seen the her record, makes more sense than a lot of the stuff on here(Calvin)

Speaking of Calvin, If you can read(I have some doubts), then you would know why I called that troll of the BH’s comment section an elitist. I laugh hearing a right winger talk about someone being called an elitist, as if you guys have never called anyone on the left that. My argument was sound and for ever person on that comment section I had an anwser for their question. Please read My Goat if you lack the skills to define “argument” and “debate”. You are correct tht I should not call you a racist or a bigot, but seeing your opposition to the criminal justice system and its application as well as your lack of proper legislative analysis, I will have to assume you are a fascist. Please send me a post card from 1930s Italy.

  39. TheIdealVoice Says:

Thanks to Eric Alterman at The Nation for this article on the hypocrisy of the right in this situation.

  40. Dan Says:

Folkbum, you’re an english teacher? I’m not defending what Mickey said, but it WAS capper that brought her into this conversation. Mickey did not single her out, capper did. So, Jay, I hope this not how you teach your students.
Again, I don’t agree what Mickey said, but….

  41. Patrick Says:

Y’all need a beer, and lighten up will ya!?!

  42. Dan Says:

Maybe people are upset how bad the Badgers are playing? And are you buying?

  43. PCD Says:

I want to thank the idiots of WI like capper, Idealvoice, Jay Bullock,… who made it so easy for another Wisconsin company to relocate or in the case of a Waukesha company to expand in IOWA instead of the Milwaukee-Racine corridor.

    What fools you are.

  44. Cindy Says:

“especially in a county where less than 20% of residents have higher education degrees.”

That’s the giggle here. So Walker’s more like the regular folk, right?

I do wish a few of you would figure out how to make an argument and not an enemy. It makes it so hard to get to the real content.

  45. Arthur Bremmer Says:

People would do well to look into the student government scandal of ca. 1987, during which people now in high places in Milwaukee stole student money to take their dates to a dance. Details, including Walker’s involvement, are in the Marquette Tribune.
