I’ll anticipate the obvious questions here: Yes, this is a public school, and yes, it is in Wisconsin.

  1. Martin Says:

    “Buses”

  2. capper Says:

Do you mean besides buses being spelled incorrectly?

  3. Aaron Says:

    It should say:

    BUSSES’ ONLY

    Duh.

  4. Pete Fanning Says:

As usual, I’m late to the game.

  5. TosaDan Says:

The white car is parked in a “Loading Zone”

  6. Calvin Says:

    Per m-w.com….
    Function:
    noun
    Inflected Form(s):
    plural bus·es also bus·ses

  7. Wendy Says:

At least they saved the taxpayers money by using an old air control tower as the entry way to the building.

  8. The Chad Says:

The American flag is being flown way to high…are you sure this is in Wisconsin??

  9. Ernie Douglas Says:

    should be buses.

  10. TosaDan Says:

Wendy, I thought it was a guard tower from a former prison.

  11. anonymousinsider Says:

Maybe the principal is British. Or didn’t have Microsoft Word to check his sandwich-board spelling. ;)

  12. jrm462 Says:

I’m with TosaDan. I thought that kind of looked like a guard tower. Kind of looks like a prison. Maybe they used the same architect to save taxpayers money. Oh and I can’t forget Go Cubs.

  13. jrm462 Says:

One last thing. Calvin looks like he is right.

  14. marge Says:

Buses…. but my first thought it was a prision. Are the flags tattered? They look like it. Bruce, you know how that gets under my skin.

  15. Lloyd Says:

In addition to everything else said, those trees should be leafing out already. I blame global warming.

  16. kris Says:

Buses or busses is one of those words where it’s acceptable to spell it either way.

  17. grumps Says:

The sign is right. That’s where the teachers kiss their spouses goodbye in the morning.

  18. Bruce Says:

Alright, let me tell you what’s wrong with this picture:

Here, we have a quality, laminated backer board sign, clearly made by a respected local sign merchant. And what is it being displayed on? A rusted, converted hand truck, held in place by a concrete masonry block.

This is yet another example of the chronic underfunding in our public schools. They need more money, and they need it now! I’m surprised they don’t have a student sitting on the base of that hand truck, for goodness’ sake.

Maybe all those union folks have really been on to something. And here, many of us have doubted them. Shame on us.

(“capper“, welcome back. This may be the first and last time we agree on something, obscure British usages notwithstanding.) ;)

    The Morning Scramble/Open Thread Thursday – 4/17/2008…

After last night’s debate, there is just one song that describes what I was drinking. Of course, there was a question of which version to use, so Shoebox chose it…

I’m still unloading the overloaded feed reader, but……

  20. Dave Casper Says:

Where’s Bullock? I happen to know this is a pet peeve of his!

  21. HeatherRadish Says:

When did “busses” become an acceptable spelling for the plural of “bus”?

That Merriam-Webster site defines “bus” as “AUTOMOBILE”, so what’s the sign keeping out? Bicycles? Golf carts?

  22. marge Says:

This is a perfect example of lack of common sense. If they would have gotten the sign with wires, they could have stuck it in the grass behind the cross walk.

    Duh!

  23. Andy Says:

If the Flag is flown at night, there are no lights set up to light up the flag.

Kisses only. Inside students and teachers can get nekkid.
