Looks like they have discovered another planet in our Solar System.
SPACE.com — Large New World Discovered Beyond Neptune
A newfound object in our solar system’s outskirts may be larger than any known world after Pluto, scientists said today. It also has a moon.
Designated as 2003 EL61, the main object in the two-body system is 32 percent as massive as Pluto and is estimated to be about 70 percent of Pluto’s diameter.
Other news reports that the object could be twice as big as Pluto are false, according to two astronomers who found the object in separate studies and another expert who has analyzed the data.
I didn’t think The Hubble Space Telescope has been around so long, but it’s been 15 years…now I feel old
The Music Nazi’s RIAA is at it again, but this time they are suing an 83 year old, computer illiterate woman that had never owned a computer… Her daughter doesn’t think she will make it to court though, she said, “I am pretty sure she is not going to leave Greenwood Memorial Park (where she is buried) to attend the hearing.” That’s right, she’s also dead.
ABC News: Music Industry Sues 83-Year-Old Dead Woman
Gertrude Walton was recently targeted by the recording industry in a lawsuit that accused her of illegally trading music over the Internet. But Walton died in December after a long illness, and according to her daughter, the 83-year-old hated computers.More than a month after Walton was buried in Beckley, a group of record companies named her as the sole defendant in a federal lawsuit, claiming she made more than 700 pop, rock and rap songs available for free on the Internet under the screen name “smittenedkitten.”
Very light compared to all the harm and expense he has caused people around the world.
Teen Sentenced for Unleashing Blaster Worm
A federal judge sentenced a teenager to a year and half of prison on Friday for releasing a variant of the Blaster worm that was used to attack more than 48,000 computers.Jeffrey Lee Parson, 19, appeared in U.S. District Court in Seattle, where he was also ordered to perform community service, pay restitution and be placed under supervision for three years following the sentence.
“If you use the Internet to harm people, it will be investigated and you will be punished,” Jeff Sullivan, chief of the criminal division of the U.S. Attorney’s office in Seattle, told reporters.
Notice the bleeding heart liberal judge’s comments on why she didn’t sentence him to the max:
U.S. District Judge Marsha Pechman, however, did not give the Minnesota teen the maximum 37-month sentence, saying Parson wrote malicious software and used it to attack other computers partly because of neglectful upbringing and supervision.

A few clips I found interesting about Deep Impact, a small space craft that is going to smash it’s self into a comet to see what it is made of.
USATODAY.com - NASA launches comet-busting spacecraft
For the first time ever, NASA is setting off on a collision course with a comet, in hopes of blasting a huge hole in the celestial snowball and gazing upon the original ingredients of the solar system preserved inside.—
Scientists, who were up against a firm two-week deadline for launching the probe, have no idea what Comet Tempel 1 looks like. They don’t know whether the spacecraft will have to punch through a crust as hard as a concrete sidewalk or as flimsy as corn flakes.
All they know with certainty is that the nucleus, or core, of the comet is three times as long as it is wide, and that they must crash into the sunlit side to capture pictures of the resulting crater and all the ice, dust and other primordial matter shooting out of the hole July 4.

Because of the relative speed at the moment of impact — 23,000 mph — no explosives are needed for the job. The force of the smashup will be the equivalent of 4½ tons of TNT going off.
-
Deep Impact actually consists of two spacecraft, the SUV-sized mothership and the TV-sized impactor that will spring free one day before the Fourth of July strike. The mothership is equipped with the largest telescope ever destined for deep space, to record the impact from a safe 300 miles away. Ground observatories also will record the event, as well as amateur astronomers.
With North Korea wallowing in poverty and filth with a crazy communist leader, their Southern counterparts are among the most technically advanced people on the planet.

Yahoo! News - South Korea Adds Satellite TV Service For Cell Phones
Already among the most savvy cell phone users in the world, South Koreans will add satellite digital multimedia broadcasting to their roster of mobile services on Monday (Jan. 10).TU Media Corp, a joint venture between SK Telecom and Toshiba Corp., will start trials in Seoul that deliver up to 39 channels, 11 of which will go to video, 25 to audio and the remaining three to data.
SK Telecom will charge US$12 a month for TU Media’s service, plus a general one-time subscription fee of US$17. It expects to attract 1.5 million subscribers by 2006, break even in 2008 and have 8 million customers by 2010, with US$1 billion in revenue.
I have a few friends that have tried this and they like it. I haven’t had time to download it yet, but I will download and install it tonight and give it a trial run. You can never have too many spyware killers
