Another elected official is calling for an investigation into the court ordered killing of Terri Schiavo.

Smith characterized Schiavo as a “healthy but disabled woman” whose death “exposes an extremely cruel, merciless and dysfunctional element” within the judicial system.

New Jersey Rep. Chris Smith, a friend and advocate of Terri Schiavo’s family, called for a full inquiry into her case Thursday after the severely brain-damaged woman who spent 15 years connected to a feeding tube died.

Smith has said that Schiavo was not in a persistent, vegetative state, but was a disabled woman who was unjustly killed by deliberate dehydration and starvation.

He was among the Republicans who lobbied Congress successfully for the passage of a bill earlier this month that allowed Schiavo’s parents the right to sue in federal court over the withdrawal of nourishment and medical treatment needed to sustain their daughter.

Smith said Congress must identify legislative reforms that will better protect the rights of those who are not near death, are not suffering from a terminal illness, and whose “so-called wishes ‘to die’ have been credibly contested by family and friends.”

Smith characterized Schiavo as a “healthy but disabled woman” whose death “exposes an extremely cruel, merciless and dysfunctional element” within the judicial system.

Michael Schiavo is being as cruel as ever, now it seems that he is not only intending to cremate Terri and bury her remains in Pennsylvania against her parents wishes, now the cold blooded SOB is not going to even tell her family WHERE she will be buried!

Yahoo! News - Berger to Plead Guilty to Taking Materials
Former national security adviser Sandy Berger will plead guilty to taking classified material from the National Archives, a misdemeanor, the Justice Department said Thursday.

Berger is expected to appear in federal court in Washington on Friday, said Justice spokesman Bryan Sierra.

The former Clinton administration official previously acknowledged he removed from the National Archives copies of documents about the government’s anti-terror efforts and notes that he took on those documents. He said he was reviewing the materials to help determine which Clinton administration documents to provide to the independent commission investigating the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.

He called the episode “an honest mistake,” and denied criminal wrongdoing.

Berger and his lawyer, Lanny Breuer, have said Berger knowingly removed the handwritten notes by placing them in his jacket and pants and inadvertently took copies of actual classified documents in a leather portfolio. He returned most of the documents, but some still are missing.

The charge of unauthorized removal and retention of classified material is a misdemeanor that carries a maximum sentence of a year in prison and up to a $100,000 fine.

The materials related to a 2000 report on how government reacted to the terror threat prior to the millennium celebrations.

Why wouldn’t Michael Schiavo allow Terri’s mom & dad be with her at the end of her fight to stay alive? The people that loved her were kept from her…We know how controlling you are Michael, was it yet another power trip for you? Did you smile, or just sigh with relief knowing you got away with murder?

One has to wonder, will you wait until after you deny her a Catholic burial as her parents wanted before you get married to the woman you have been living with?

Senator Seeks Accountability of Judges in Schiavo Case

They can’t hurt you any more Terri, you are safe in HIS embrace

I know this is a hard time for everyone that became interested in Terri’s Fight. Please say a prayer for her family, especially her mom and dad, two people whose love never faltered. Terri is in a better place with her Creator, even Michael Schiavo couldn’t keep her from that.

I know that there is an emotionally charged wave to place blame on those we thought should be able to help Terri. People will blame Jeb Bush thinking that he could have done more, but there is only so much he could do. He has fought hard for a number of years to save Terri, as have many in the Florida Legislature. I know many there have obstructed the efforts to save Terri, but when placing blame, remember that it lies with those that voted to impose the death sentence, not those that worked with Jeb Bush and the Schindler family.

First and foremost, blame has to be placed at the feet of the man that has refused to allow all therapy three months after getting $2 million for her care. The man that put a do not Resuscitate order in Terri’s medical chart and refused medical treatment for a simple infection that could have killed her several times. The man engaged to another woman since 1997, the mother of his two children. Michael Schiavo, he is to blame.

Schiavo is not alone, he has a lawyer that has been active for years in the culture of killing, a supporter of “mercy killings” and the like. George Felos also has blood on his hands.

Judge Greer, a man that has been at the forefront of the efforts to kill Terri for years. As I understand it, he has a very close relationship with George Felos and the hospice that Terri has been forced to live in. He has sided with Michael Schiavo every step of the way. Greer is but only one member of the judicial system that has failed to protect a vulnerable disabled woman. He has refused to accept any medical information that did not come from Schiavo, he has refused to allow tests that could help Terri.

The Florida Supreme Court has failed to save Terri as well. They have overturned duly enacted law handed down by the elected representatives of the state, adding another layer of unelected and unaccountable judges that have ignored the will of the people.

Many in Congress refused to help Terri, they couldn’t even be bothered to come back and vote, but even with their opposition, the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate passed a bill that was signed into Law by the President of the United States that directed the Federal Court System to look into the case from the beginning. The arrogant Federal Court Judges at the District level, Appellate level and even the United States Supreme Court all chose to ignore this Law. They have once again chosen to legislate from the bench by choosing to ignore the law set forth by the elected representatives of We The People, of the United States!

Also, remember that the media launched an all out misinformation campaign to convince people that Terri was less than alive and this was what she wanted and it was a peaceful way to die and all the other bull $#*@ they have been printing and putting out over the airwaves. I have never heard this many lies, fabrications and flat out wrong information, I know I am not alone at screaming at the radio every time they call her brain dead or in a coma. Or how about them calling Terri’s supporters things like religious zealots and right wing nuts. And for the media to hype this as a political issue disgusts me! They seem to be pushing for Terri to be killed because it will hurt Republicans and the President and Jeb Bush, totally ignoring the FACT that many of Terri’s supporters are NOT Republicans or even religious, they just think it’s wrong to kill a disabled woman.

As I have been saying since the 11th Circuit first thumbed it’s nose at Congress by ignoring their lawful directive for the Federal Court to look into the Schiavo case in full.

It is time for the Judicial System to be out in it’s place, as part of government, not above it!

Santorum says Congress ought to discuss jurists’ ’snubbing’ of lawmakers

Referring to U.S. District Judge James Whittemore’s decision last week to reject a request for emergency intervention, Santorum said, “For this judge in this district to ignore that is tantamount, I believe, to an offense that should be discussed in the Congress.”

Santorum was speaking with the Fox News Channel’s Sean Hannity in an interview last night at the Wooside Hospice in Pinellas Park, Fla., where Terri Schiavo is now in the 13th day without nutrition and hydration since her feeding tube was removed by court order March 18.

The senator led an effort in Congress that resulted in a bill, signed by President Bush, intended to trigger a federal court review and a quick restoration of the feeding tube.

“What we asked for in the Congress was a new finding of fact,” Santorum said. “And this judge in this district ignored it, snubbed his nose at Congress, I think against the law. I think he should be held accountable for it.”

Santorum also criticized Pinellas Circuit Court Judge George Greer, without naming him, for ignoring subpoenas for Terri Schiavo and others issued by the U.S. House Government Reform Committee in its announced investigation into the case. A subpoenaed witness automatically is granted federal protection.

A spokesman for the family of Terri Schindler Schiavo said Wednesday the Florida judge presiding over her case “ignores the state’s laws and orders the premeditated killing of a disabled Florida woman by her husband.”

Pamela Hennessy, media director for the Terri Schindler-Schiavo Foundation, in a press release Wednesday called on disability and eldercare advocates to press for Circuit Judge George Greer’s “immediate impeachment.”

“If there is a single person following this who doesn’t believe Judge Greer has legislated from the bench, trampled Florida’s laws and deprived Terri Schiavo of her retained rights, they are simply not paying attention,” Hennessy said in a statement.

It doesn’t happen often, but in this, I totally agree with Democrat Tim Carpenter. He has been trying to repeal the yearly gas tax hike that no elected official ever has to vote for.

Not surprising, the 11th Circuit turned down Terri’s case again. But in another move, the court attacked President Bush and Congress. They don’t seem to recognize that the Supreme Court has said Congress has the right to “intervene and guide or control the exercise of the courts’ discretion” [Weinberger v. Romero 305, 313 (1982)]

How dare this unelected, unaccountable, arrogant SOB think that THEY are the lawmakers in this land! We need to reign in the out of control Judicial system. It is the Legislative branch that MAKES law and the President that SIGNS it into law. If the law is not unconstitutional, the Federal Courts must honor it, they do not get to select the laws they choose to to enforce.

The killer Michael Schiavo and his liar lawyer Felos have been caught in a lie. It turns out that he has no say in the matter, it is the Medical Examiner that decides if an autopsy is needed.

I have seen questions as to whether or not the autopsy will actually be able to determine her cognitive state, but even if it can, it will be to late to matter!

According to Bill Pellan, director of investigations for the Pinellas-Pasco Medical Examiner’s Office, it is not up to Michael Schiavo to decide whether his wife, Terri, should undergo an autopsy after death, “He doesn’t have any choice in the matter.”

Also, Code Blue Blog, a Radiologist that has interpreted over 10,000 brain CT’s has posted some intriguing information.

The most alarming thing about this image, however, is that there certainly is cortex left. Granted, it is severely thinned, especially for Terri’s age, but I would be nonplussed if you told me that this was a 75 year old female who was somewhat senile but fully functional, and I defy a radiologist anywhere to contest that.

I HAVE SEEN MANY WALKING, TALKING, FAIRLY COHERENT PEOPLE WITH WORSE CEREBRAL/CORTICAL ATROPHY. THEREFORE, THIS IS IN NO WAY PRIMA FACIE EVIDENCE THAT TERRI SCHIAVO’S MENTAL ABILITIES OR/OR CAPABILITIES ARE COMPLETELY ERADICATED. I CANNOT BELIEVE SUCH TESTIMONY HAS BEEN GIVEN ON THE BASIS OF THIS SCAN.

JS Online: Cigarette tax revived to mend Medicaid
Lawmakers are wading into murky waters as they enter the state’s budget-writing process, but some have said one thing is becoming clear: The Medicaid program for the elderly and poor needs a major fix, and raising the cigarette tax might be one solution.

Legislators also don’t care much for many of the proposals outlined in Gov. Jim Doyle’s budget, introduced last month. He calls for some radical and controversial methods for closing a $590 million deficit over two years in Medicaid, which provides health care to one in seven of Wisconsin’s residents.

That has several lawmakers looking again at raising the state’s cigarette tax to pump more revenue into the program, along with other short-term solutions, such as moving more participants into managed care.
