Jennifer McBride points out that unlike the Milwaukee paper, the Waukesha Freeman understands that the fact that Jim Dwyer’s lies matter. You can find the Freeman here, I hope that link works, this is something new to me. Just click on the story titled “Dwyer ad irks Finley”
Jessica points out all of the ways that the Journal Sentinel could have gotten information for a story, but they chose to not contact Dan Vrakas, Dan Finley, Jennifer Finley, Jessica herself or they could have quoted Jennifer Finley from the Charlie Sykes show of from Dan Finley himself when he called Mark Belling on the air. And guess what I just happen to have here…
Listen to Dan Finley tell Mark Belling, on the air, that he wants his name removed from the misleading Dwyer ads.
You can read more about this from yesterday’s posting here at Badger Blogger.
I thought we were going to be able to get rid of this RINO Dino…
WisPolitics.com: Justice Crooks: Running for Re-election as a Moderate-Conservative
Patrick Crookswasn’t supposed to be running for re-election to the state Supreme Court next year. But he is. And to the dismay of some conservatives who view a pair of recent votes as opening up a liability crisis, he’s running from the middle – a recipe for judicial re-election success in Wisconsin.
Jeff Wagner has a great post on how lenient Milwaukee’s D.A. is on Cyber Sex Crimes. In Milwaukee, it seems that if you coerce a teenager into having sex with you, it’s really no big deal.
Jeff Wagner: Cyber-Perverts of the World Rejoice! Milwaukee County is Rolling Out the Welcome Mat!
Cyber-perverts of the world rejoice! Milwaukee County is putting out the welcome mat for you courtesy of District Attorney E. Michael McCann and several Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judges.

JS Online: Plans for citywide wireless network announced
Milwaukee officials announced today that a local company plans to invest between $20 million and $25 million in creating a citywide wireless computer network, which would put the city at the forefront of a national push to create such systems. The proposal, which would come at no cost to city taxpayers, is from Milwaukee-based Midwest Fiber Networks. The firm needs permission to use city-owned underground conduits to establish the system, which would allow residents to access the Internet from virtually any location. They would need a computer with a wireless network card.
A Common Council committee was briefed this morning on plans for the system. A measure formally authorizing city officials to negotiate a deal with the firm is to be introduced at next week’s council meeting.

I really wanted to make it to the Vrakas / Dwyer debate today, especially after learning about Dwyer’s lies, but this flu just won’t leave me alone, so if anyone does go and would like to write a summery, I’ll be happy to either post it here or link to you if you have a spot on the web. My email address is on the top of the sidebar ►
I really wish they had plans to webcast or podcast this, since it is being held at a time when most people are not able to attend. Hopefully we won’t have to rely solely on the MSM for coverage, we know what that will get us…
UPDATE: Hearing Today (New Audio Added)
Glenn Grothman is holding his hearing on this issue today!
Scott Walker is on the proper side of this, as expected
Jeff Plale, where are you? Charlie Sykes just reported that you haven’t done what you said you were going to do! You also told me in an email that you were working to save the fireworks, what if anything have you done?!?
Doyle needs to hear from us! He seems to be leaning our way, his contact info is listed below!
State Rep Jon Richards also needs to hear from his voters, he is siding with the DNR and wants to prevent hundreds of thousands of people from enjoying the fireworks!
Listen to Glenn Grothman and Charlie Sykes on WTMJ.
UPDATE: Jeff Stone supports fireworks
Original Post 10/5/05
A few weeks ago, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources announced that they were killing off the almost weekly fireworks during the summer “Festival Season” by no longer allowing the small island adjacent to Summerfest to be used for firing off the huge displays. This is something that Milwaukee does better than anywhere else in the world and should not be ended.
I posted the contact information to the DNR officials, Governor, Mayor and State Senators that cover the area that holds the Summerfest area along with the JSOnline article and my commentary as it happened. You can find that information at:
Badger Blogger » Blog Archive » No more Summerfest Fireworks?
Today, State Senator Glenn Gothman
is going to be the first elected official that I know of to join the fight to save this Milwaukee tradition. He said in a radio news interview that he has the votes to overrule the DNR.
Listen to Grothman’s interview.
Why? Please answer this question!
Why is Glenn Grothman the first public official to join this fight? He doesn’t even represent the area! Where are Milwaukee’s elected officials?
That contact information from my previous post may come in handy again, so here it is:
- Clarke Johnson, Ph# 414-263-8570 or Email
- Public Affairs Manager for S/E Region, Kathleen Wolski, (414) 263-8516 Email
- DNR Feedback Form
- Governor Jim Doyle has the last word and can save the day.
- Mayor Tom Barrett, (414) 286-2200 or email
- State Senator Jeff Plale (608) 266-7505 Email
- State Rep Jon Richards (608) 266-0650 Email
A thank you to Senator Grothman for “Standing up for Milwaukee” might be a nice thing to do too. Email Phone # (608) 266-7513
Update: Senator Plale joins the fight
Senator Jeff Plale
is joining the fight on the right side of this issue.
Listen to Jeff Plale talk with Charlie Sykes about the issue.
Side Note: Long time listeners to Charlie Sykes will remember that Charlie Sykes is a bit of a fireworks freak. A few years ago, if my faulty memory isn’t failing me, he got caught firing off fireworks
Now you know why he got so hyped up when Plale told him that he has a pyrotechnics licence.
