NBC caught staging news video

Oh, this is sweet!

Up the Creek: Out to Embarrass Bush Over Alleged Video Stunt, Today Gets Caught in Stunt of Its Own | NewsBusters.org
In a deliciously ironic twist of fate, shortly before airing a segment aimed at embarrassing the Bush administration by suggesting that it had staged a video conversation between the president and soldiers in Iraq, the Today show was caught staging . . . a video stunt.

This is almost to good to be true!

Today’s timing couldn’t have been worse. A preceding segment focused on the incessant rains and ensuing flooding in the northeast. For days now, beautiful, blonde - and one senses highly ambitious - young reporter Michelle Kosinski has been on the scene for Today in New Jersey, working the story. In an apparent effort to draw attention to herself, in yesterday’s segment she turned up in hip waders, standing thigh-deep in the flood waters.

Taking her act one step further, this morning she appeared on a suburban street . . . paddling a canoe. There was one small problem. Just as the segment came on the air, two men waded in front of Kosinki . . . and the water barely covered their shoe tops! That’s right, Kosinski’s canoe was in no more than four to six inches of water!

An embarrassed Kosinski claimed the water was deeper down the street but that her producers didn’t want to let her go there for fear she’d drift away. But Katie and Matt, perhaps peeved by her attempted scene-stealing, couldn’t resist ribbing her.

You’ve got to go check out the video, it is laugh out loud funny!

The Great Seal of the United States to be changed

by @ 8:10 pm. Filed under Home, Just for fun

The Old Seal

The New Seal

Official Announcement:

The government today announced that it is changing its emblem from an Eagle to a CONDOM because it more accurately reflects the government’s political stance. A condom allows for inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of pricks, and gives you a sense of security while you’re actually being screwed.

The Early Spin — One week in

by @ 7:51 pm. Filed under Home

WISN’s Early Spin has made it through it’s first week. The first day, I made a post that has generated a lot of comment action, some pro, some con, mainly on the personalities themselves. I haven’t made much comment myself on the quality of the show, I wanted to give it a chance. They have had a week now and I have been able to listen to several hours of the show and have a few comments.

The first day, I had a real concern that waking up to two people bickering like an old married couple would be hard to listen to. I have to admit that thus far, I was wrong. While I strongly disagree with Nichole Devin on her political and social views, Dan Deibert does a great job representing the opposing views, and it has all been done with good humor. I have enjoyed the show this first week. Topics move fast enough so they don’t get bogged down in one long boring argument. So far, it works.

If I were the Early Spin God, I would find a larger role for Jamie Larson, the spunkiest person in Milwaukee radio. We at Badger Blogger love Jamie.

I also enjoy Pat Crowley, I am glad they let him out of his cage for more than just the sports.

The one thing that really annoys me, and I know it doesn’t have anything to do with the quality of the show, it is just one of those quirky things that get under my skin. We have heard them (Jerry Bott mainly) talking about this awesome website for a month or so now, but there is still nothing but the logo there… What’s up with that? (Okay, I’ll stop being picky now)

Inside the T-shirt story

by @ 7:25 pm. Filed under Metro Milwaukee

Today, the paper ran a fairly interesting story on a popular T-shirt, especially in our inner city young people. It is a shirt that says ““Stop Snitching” and stems from a group of rappers and even an NBA player, it is a call for people to stop cooperating with police, or worse.

Made popular in Baltimore last year by a “Stop Snitching” DVD featuring rappers, a Denver Nuggets player and others, some wielding guns, wishing harm on police informants, the T-shirts, sometimes spelled “Stop Snitch’n,” have caught on in urban centers from Boston to Philadelphia and Denver and are now among the hottest fashion trends in Milwaukee.

I thought the story was interesting and well done, but something caught my attention. They talked to an Assistant District Attorney, John Chisholm. The name caught my attention, this is the A.D.A. that is being groomed by E. Michael McCann to run for the D.A. seat if, as expected, McCann does not run. I wonder if the D.A.’s office will be using opportunities like this to get more press time for their heir apparent?

Summerfest, 5 festivals get OK to launch fireworks

Summerfest, 5 festivals get OK to launch fireworks

Summerfest and five ethnic festivals held on the Milwaukee lakefront will be allowed to launch fireworks from the Lakeshore State Park island, under an agreement reached today.

Public access to the state park just off the Henry Maier festival grounds would be limited for roughly 3½ hours for each fireworks event, according to a release from the state Department of Natural Resources. The agreement will be in place for the 2006 festival season.

The access issue for this summer is essentially moot, since the park will be under construction for a scheduled opening in spring 2007.

The compromise agreement directs interested parties to discuss future fireworks displays and to assess public satisfaction and acceptance.

Special thanks to Glenn Grothman for putting on the pressure from the State Government, and thanks to Summerfest President Don Smiley for all of the work he and his people have put into this.

I would still like to see the DNR hacks responsible for this asinine move fired!

Holloway ethics case advances

by @ 5:57 am. Filed under Home

Geeze, set a date already! We need to get this crook removed from office.

JS Online: Holloway ethics case advances
The ethics case against Milwaukee County Board Chairman Lee Holloway should proceed to a final hearing on all counts, a hearing examiner ruled Thursday.

Michael Hogan rejected Holloway’s contention that any of the 90 civil allegations made by the county’s Ethics Board either were filed too late or were issued contrary to board rules.

Holloway is fighting accusations related to receiving $165,000 in a never-consummated real-estate deal with Opportunities Industrialization Center of Greater Milwaukee, formerly a county- and state-funded agency in Milwaukee. He also is accused of failing to publicly divulge ownership of that property and others on county-required forms.
