I know this has been a popular topic around the Badger State, but is sounds like Diane Sykes is being looked at hard on a national level too. When/if Harriet Miers’ nomination is halted (for what ever happy reason), Diane Sykes may be on a very short list for the next nomination. There is no doubt that she is a qualified conservative… This would seem to be a real possibility, especially with Feingold & Kohl both being on the Judiciary Committee.

If you had purchased $1,000.00 of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. With Enron, you would have had $16.50 left of the original $1,000.00. With World Com, you would have had less than $5.00 left. But, if you had purchased $1,000.00 worth of Beer one year ago, drank all the beer, then turned in the cans for the aluminum recycling REFUND, you would have had $214.00. Based on the above, the best current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle………It’s called the 401-Keg Plan.

Last weekend I was hit with about 500 spam comments, before I turned it off tonight, I had 122 in about 30 minutes
None of them make it to the board, but I still have to deal with them.
Hopefully I will be able to open it up to non-registered users again soon, but for the time being, I have to lock the security down a bit.
The paper in Milwaukee is getting another overhaul. Officially it starts with tomorrow’s Sunday paper, but I seen an early edition today, they are using lots of color to improve the way it looks… I guess they don’t realize that the reason their sales are down is not because of the aesthetics, it is because of the blatant bias in the reporting and news coverage. Until they realize and change this, their sales numbers will keep dropping, no matter how pretty they make this pig look.
Wow! What an awesome two minutes! The Badgers needed two scores in the last two minutes thanks to an extremely long drive by Minnesota. The Badgers took the ball, drove for a touch down, but they still needed 3 points to tie, everyone expected the on-side kick, the kick took a funny bounce but Minnesota recovered, but deep in their territory. The Badger were able to hold them and force a punt with about 30 seconds left, they blocked the punt and the ball rolled into the end zone and the Badgers recover in the end zone and win the game 38 - 34!
From an insiders point of view. The following letter to the editor was posted in the Waukesha Freeman today:
To the editor:
On virtually every conservative reform issue,
incumbent County Board Chairman Jim Dwyer is on the
liberal side and newcomer to county politics Dan
Vrakas is on the conservative side.During my four years of service as a county supervisor
from New Berlin, I served with Dwyer. At budget time
each year, Dwyer voted for, advocated for, and to be
quite frank, twisted arms of his fellow supervisors
for a tax levy increase. In contrast, the reform-minded Vrakas supports a tax
freeze and has even co-sponsored tax freeze
legislation.Throughout the last decade, Dwyer has refused to
consider reducing the size of the board.Like me, Vrakas thinks that the county board should be
reduced to save money and reform the way our
government operates. One thing I am proud of accomplishing before I left
the county board in 2004 was a pay freeze for county
supervisors, including the pay for the full-time
chairman. Even Dwyer couldn’t twist enough arms to
stop the pay freeze then. However, in the last year,
the new county board, under Dwyer’s “leadership” has
sought fit to give raises to the entire board,
including the chairman.Unlike Dwyer, Vrakas has questioned if the chairman’s
position should even be full-time.If you want to continue the legacy of tax levy
increases, of blocking reform and of raising the pay
for politicians, then Dwyer is your man. If you want a
conservative, reform-minded leader who wants to change
the way things are done, vote for Vrakas for county
executive on Tuesday – I know I will.Matt Thomas

One of the solders at what is being called by the MSM, a “staged” press conference was an Army combat medic, Sgt. Ron Long . Sgt. Long is also a Blogger, and he responds to the media’s attack on our President and the troops involved. The full post (along with video) can be seen here:
They call us, “Doc”: Speaking with President Bush
This excerpt and the hat tip: Michelle Malkin
Michelle Malkin: A SOLDIER SPEAKS TO THE MSM
Yesterday, I (bottom right corner in the picture) was chosen to be among a small group of soldiers assigned to the 42ID’s Task Force Liberty that would speak to President Bush, our Commander-in-Chief. The interview went well, but I would like to respond to what most of the mass-media has dubbed as, “A Staged Event.”First of all, we were told that we would be speaking with the President of the United States, our Commander-in-Chief, President Bush, so I believe that it would have been totally irresponsible for us NOT to prepare some ideas, facts or comments that we wanted to share with the President.
We were given an idea as to what topics he may discuss with us, but it’s the President of the United States; He will choose which way his conversation with us may go.
We practiced passing the microphone around to one another, so we wouldn’t choke someone on live TV. We had an idea as to who we thought should answer what types of questions, unless President Bush called on one of us specifically.
President Bush told us, during his closing, that the American people were behind us. I know that we are fighting here, not only to preserve our own freedoms, but to establish those same freedoms for the people of Iraq. It makes my stomach ache to think that we are helping to preserve free speech in the US, while the media uses that freedom to try to RIP DOWN the President and our morale, as US Soldiers. They seem to be enjoying the fact that they are tearing the country apart. Worthless!
Pass this along to send a message to the media, they are harming our troops morale and WE WILL NOT STAND FOR THAT!
Iraqi’s braved attacks again, so they could vote! There are people on both sides, but it is the Iraqi people that will decide how their nation proceeds, not foreign terrorists that kill civilians! 15.5 million Iraqi’s have registered, this is more than in the last historic elections in Janurary.

“Today, I came to vote because I am tired of terrorists, and I want the country to be safe again,” said Zeinab Sahib, a 30-year-old mother of three, one of the first voters at a school in Baghdad’s mainly Shiite neighborhood of Karrada. “This constitution means unity and hope.”
They do it for them selves, and they do it for their children
“I’m 75 years old. Everything is finished for me. But I’m going to vote because I want a good future for my children,” Fliha said.

Last night, Charlie Sykes was a celebrity “human hockey puck” for charity at the Admirals game, someone has GOT to have video of this!
