A year ago, I made a few New Year Predictions, let’s see how bad I did…
- The Eagles and Steelers will be in the Super Bowl and the Steelers will win (as a Packer fan, this kills me!)
The Stealers still have an outside chance, but the Eagles have a snowball’s chance
- The Iraqi elections will happen on time with relatively little disturbance. There will be isolated attacks, but I believe Democracy will prevail!
The elections were hugely successful, better than ever expected!
- By the end of the year, insurgent attacks will be rare in Iraq and most security will be handed off to Iraqi forces. The US will maintain a strong presence, but troop levels will be down.
Insurgent attacks are down, but still all to common. Iraqi forces are taking more of a leadership role in security. it has also been announced that combat troops would be reduced, concentration would be on support and intelligence troops.
- Kofi Annan and his top people will be forced out of the UN as the Oil for Food scandal comes to a head and it becomes clear that he has been on the take for years.
While it has been shown that Annan (and his son) were into the “Oil for Food” scandal up to their necks, there is no will to do anything about it. But do we expect more from the UN? Of course not.
- I don’t see Pope John Paul making it as Pope another year. Sad
On April 2nd, Pope John Paul II was called home to God. A sad sad day for more than 1 billion Catholics and hundreds of millions if not billions of non Catholics from around the world… This was really the only pope that I knew in my life. This was the same week that Terri Schiavo was put to death by a branch of the government of the country that I love, in a most barbaric manor… That was a sad week.
- The Yankee’s will win the World Series behind Randy Johnson’s 24 wins.
After 88 years, the White Sox have won the World Series. And Randy Johnson only won 17.
- Bloggers will continue to hound the media and the media will continue to launch it’s ineffective attacks that only make the Blogs stronger.
No doubt about it! Some in the MSM are starting to see that we are here to stay, and we are getting even stronger.
- Fahrenheit 9/11 will win the Oscar for best picture along with several other awards while The Passion of the Christ will be totally snubbed. A few nominations, no awards.
No awards for either. The Passion got three nominations.
- New leadership for the Palestinian people will do little to change the death in Israel, after a brief lull the suicide bombings will resume by mid year.
The Palestinian issue is still a mess. They have so much hatred that they keep blowing up their own children for a chance to kill a Jew.
- A major terrorist attack will be stopped in the United States, but I also fear that at least one will succeed.
Nothing has been made public, but there have been indications that America’s war on terror has been quite effective in the United States. We didn’t have a terrorist attack on out shores, but our friends the British had two waves of terrorist attacks.
All in all, I would say that last years predictions… Sucked
I will probably try it again this year, if I do, it will be posted this weekend.
