Excuse me while I get all dirty and greasy under my truck

by @ 12:52 pm. Filed under Home

Usually when i have to do things like this, it is like -20 with a howling wind and a foot of snow, but thanks to this awesome global warming, it is 40 and sunny as I prepare to crawl under my truck to replace my starter. I was going to do it yesterday, but it was colder and raining and nasty. Now I can listen to the Badgers win the Capitol One Bowl (it’s 10-7, end of the 1st.) as I ensure that my truck will start tomorrow, unlike yesterday when I went out to breakfast

UPDATE: All is right with the world

The Packers won, the Badgers won, and I got my starter replaced with no problems… All in all, except for the questions of Brett Favre’s return, it has been a good holiday weekend.

Moonbats ring the Global Warming alarm again — Last year it was the hurricanes that never happened

by @ 12:22 pm. Filed under Home

The following comes from the same sort of moonbats that promised that this past year’s hurricane season would be the worst in history… There were actually no severe hurricanes the whole year.

World faces hottest year ever, as El Niño combines with global warming

A combination of global warming and the El Niño weather system is set to make 2007 the warmest year on record with far-reaching consequences for the planet, one of Britain’s leading climate experts has warned.

As the new year was ushered in with stormy conditions across the UK, the forecast for the next 12 months is of extreme global weather patterns which could bring drought to Indonesia and leave California under a deluge.

The warning, from Professor Phil Jones, director of the Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia, was one of four sobering predictions from senior scientists and forecasters that 2007 will be a crucial year for determining the response to global warming and its effect on humanity.

By the way, it is New years Day in Milwaukee Wi. and it is 40°, if this is global warming, I’m all for it! I think I will spray a few cans of hair spray into the air to celebrate!

Murders down 16% — But…there is always a ‘but’

by @ 12:05 pm. Filed under Home

Milwaukee is touting the fact that murders are down 16%, from 122 last year, to 103 this past year. But the paper reports some interesting things about these numbers.

As reported in the papers outstanding series outlining the great job that our first responders and trauma centers are doing in saving 90% of shooting victims. We learned that they were expecting over 600 non fatal shootings in Milwaukee this year.

We also learned that, even though fatalities were down, the incidents of violent crime was skyrocketing. Froedtert Hospital expected to treat 35% more adult victims, and Children’s Hospital was expecting to see a 38% rise in kids being shot. Milwaukee was reported to have the second highest spike in violent crime in the first half of the year.

It is also interesting to note that, because they way the FBI defines homicides, a definition from the 1920’s, there were 16 homicides that were not reported in these numbers.

Violent crime in Milwaukee is getting worse, not better, it is obvious that the current mayor and police chief have no idea what can be done to regain control of this situation. A large part of the crime problems has been having a District Attorney that plea bargains away gun charges time and time again. We now have a new incoming District Attorney for the first time in almost 40 years. He has talked the talk, now we get to learn if he is willing to walk the walk. For the safety of Milwaukee citizens, I hope John Chisholm is willing to take on the hard cases and work to see that all gun crimes are aggressively pursued.

If people willing to use a gun in a crime, and the gun charge is reduced and the bad guy is put back on the street, his chance of using a gun in another crime are to high to risk. This was proven by the murderer of Special Olympian, Branden Sprewer. The 19 year old that murdered this developmentally disabled man, was free on probation, less than a year after his shot a man during an armed robbery.

In case you are keeping count, there were four shootings overnight, including the first homicide of 2007.

Happy New Year

by @ 1:30 am. Filed under Home

I wish you all a safe and prosperous New Year.

I thought I would give you a little audio from my north side of Milwaukee location. From my front door, I heard well over 100 gun shots. Mayor Barrett, where was the bookmobile when we needed it?

Play audio of New Years Eve gun shots. Remember, this is Milwaukee, not Baghdad.
