Insiders expected that longtime Milwaukee County prosecutor Robert Donohoo would cash in when he retired this month with his boss, District Attorney E. Michael McCann.

But who knew Donohoo would hit such a large jackpot?

Pension officials said Donohoo, 60, is set to receive a lump-sum payment of $652,505 under the “backdrop” provision in the lucrative 2001 pension deal.

Betcha you’re wishing you spent a few decades on the county payroll.

Along with the backdrop, Donohoo will receive a monthly retirement check of $5,719.32, or $68,632 a year.

When is news, news?

I also asked this on my Fox 6 Blog, but why has the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel totally ignored the story of the huge fight at Bradley Tech high school? The TV and radio news departments have covered it well, but the paper hasn’t noticed… I guess.

The media can drive what is in the news by what they chose to report, and even more importantly, what they choose NOT to report.

I am going to have to update my picture of Milwaukee’s crime fighters

We have another story of the D.A. failing to lock up a thug before they murder

by @ 6:19 am. Filed under Home

We have another Sidney Gray type case unfolding in Milwaukee. A man that was arrested by Milwaukee police, but released by McCann(t)’s District Attorneys Office dropped the ball, and again, the man, Gregory C. “Bourgeois” Banks went on to murder.

Gregory C. “Bourgeois” Banks had nearly 5 grams of heroin in his car when he was arrested Nov. 23 on Milwaukee’s north side, and a warrant for his arrest on an earlier Municipal Court drug offense was being processed, yet he walked out of the Milwaukee County Jail the next evening a free man.

Three weeks later, prosecutors charge, Banks, 28, abruptly killed a man who lived near the spot Banks had been arrested with the heroin after an anonymous phone tip. Then he disappeared, eluding a murder warrant for nearly a month until his arrest over the weekend in his native Chicago.

Now, while trying to explain how Banks came to be set free in the first place, authorities await his extradition to Milwaukee County to face a charge of first-degree homicide.

This is the third case like this in the past year!

Summery of Sidney Gray.

Police and the District Attorneys office are pointing fingers at each other on this, but it turns out that a good neighbor, when he got a call saying that the home next to him was being burglarized, and went to confront the thug. The scum pulled a gun and murdered him with his 14 year old son watching.

It turns out that the suspect, Sidney Gray, should have been locked up due to another burglary and resisting arrest, he attempted days before. But because police and D.A.’s didn’t get the statement from the victim (who really wanted to help), the thug (with a long criminal record) was released.

Summery of Julius M. King. This post includes comments from both District Attorney candidates at the time.

A woman told police Julius M. King, 22, pointed a shotgun at her and threatened to kill her Aug. 11, but the misdemeanor charge filed against him in that case four days later didn’t result in a warrant until Sept. 11 - four days after King’s arrest in the Aug. 26 shooting death of Fabian Binns.

Your turn Mr. Chisholm… How will you explain this one? What (if anything) will you do to fix it so we don’t have a fourth event like this in the next few months? Will this lead to the people that bungled the case before the murder being fired? Will there ever be any accountability for releasing violent people back into our streets? Milwaukee deserves better!
