How did I know this was coming?

I have just one question… How many state employees and bureaucrats will lose their jobs for this incredible screw up?

We know the answer, don’t we?

Taxpayers likely to pay for tax glitch

State taxpayers likely will have to pitch in hundreds of thousands of dollars - and perhaps much more - to provide credit monitoring to help protect the 171,000 people whose Social Security numbers inadvertently were printed on the outside of tax booklets.

If everyone affected signed up for the credit monitoring, it would cost taxpayers more than $4 million, but state officials said the bill would be lower than that. They cited examples of security breaches elsewhere that suggested taxpayers would have to pay at most $232,000.

Feel free to expand on this, I would like to myself, but… Have I mentioned my truck?

One of those rare moments

It doesn’t happen often, but I agree fully with the Journal Sentinel Editorial Board on the McGee recall fiasco.

Editorial: A botched decision

The Milwaukee Election Commission voted correctly on Jan. 2 to allow a recall election of Ald. Michael McGee. Although concerns were raised about fraud, McGee failed to produce evidence to invalidate enough of challenger ViAnna Jordan’s signatures. The commission found that Jordan had submitted 165 more signatures than required.

[…]

And it doesn’t change the fact that McGee has so far been unable to successfully challenge enough of Jordan’s signatures to scuttle the election.

Without compelling evidence to the contrary, the commission should stick to its Jan. 2 decision - and rely only on the facts and not on the uncertain smoke of suspicion.

Go read it all.
