You could kind of see this one coming. What is it about Sarah Palin that is like nails on the proverbial chalkboard of the left?

“When Sarah Palin came on the national scene last summer, few knew that she promotes the brutal aerial killing of wolves. Now, back in Alaska, Palin is again casting aside science and championing the slaughter of wildlife… It is time to stop Sarah Palin and stop this senseless savagery.”

— Actress Ashley Judd, in a video released by the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund

Many in the media are calling this a “public feud” between Palin and Judd. Isn’t this just an activist group riding the coattails of the left’s hatred for Palin in its current fund-raising campaign? The east-coast media, never meeting a hunter it didn’t despise, has happily jumped on board.

For it’s part, Alaska’s Department of Fish and Game tells NBC’s Today Show via a written statement that the aerial hunting represents “critical [wolf] population control” which results in “larger moose and caribou herds.” (A plan, I might add, that moose and caribou are almost unanimously in favor of.)

NBC does offer video of Palin, in a speech delivered to the Alaskan legislature, explaining that the aerial hunting “ultimately promotes the population growth of every species.” (I’m pretty sure she meant to say “every species — except the Alaskan wolf.”)

To me, this smells far more like “media vs. hunting” than “Judd vs. Palin.” I guess everyone needs a face to associate with their enemy.

UPDATE: Governor Palin fires back

  1. Anon Says:

You have to admit the video of the wolf being shot from the plane is pretty brutal. I can see why this disturbs people who love animals.

  2. John Smith Says:

Judd speaks out of wealth, much like Whoopies support of Micheal Phelps and Oprah’s support of Obama.

Why doesn’t Judd study the problem before speaking. Whoopie, is this really setting a good example for our children. Oprah, when we get to the perfect social society you will no-longer have your billions to spend, we the people will be spending your hard earned money along with Judd’s and Whoopies.

  3. Mr. Pelican Pants Says:

Here’s why the Left hates Palin: she’s pretty, she’s popular, she’s a proud wife and mother, she’s a Christian, she’s risen to power without the help of the NOW or NARAL, and she believes in the people to solve life’s problems rather than the government.

For the Left, Sarah Palin is the homecoming queen, cheerleader, and class president all wrapped up in one person. They hate that.

  4. Jaeson Says:

Another wacko activist whose movies I won’t be watching.

Anon, what DOW fails to mention is that the “helicopter” hunting of wolves policy was already in effect when Palin became governor.

What Palin did, was change the policy so that instead of taxpayers paying for government employees to fly in helicopters, she offered a bounty on wolves for the average citizen.

The Defenders of Wildlife are so wildly factually incorrect it makes a person’s head spin. They’re on the same level as those who want to rename fish.

Here’s some more on the matter:

I’d still like to see an SNL skit with a Palin Vs. Judd cat fight though.

  5. John Smith Says:

Sadly SNL would take Judd’s side, because its just plain fun to pick on Palin. They greatly underestimate their influence.

Palin would have been for creating productive jobs and reducing frivoulous administration, which would have been good for the children, education, and healtcare.

By making her look bad, the people voted to have productive businesses put out business and jobs taken away, which is bad for the children, education and healtcare.

    Caveman say “Fire goood”
    Frankenstein say “Fire baaad”

  7. Amy P. Says:

Gee, I sure wish the left would get as outraged as this about, say, videos of abortions and the “evil” manner in which the unborn are hunted down and killed.

At least the wolves are free to run away.

  8. Hello Says:

Anyone who thinks this is about wolves and not just to go after Gov. Palin any way possible is all wet.

After all how dare she be a Republican and not be a rich white male. It’s funny that the people that claim to be for women and minorities will do what ever they can to control women and minorities.

  9. gus Says:

I think liberals should all adopt a wolf. Let the wolf play with their children…. Dakota and Falusia…then…..call 911 and have the Doggie wolf put down a little more humanely.
Liberals live in a fantasy land paid for by you and me.

  10. Peter Says:

Wish we could hunt idiot celebritards like those wolves are being hunted, No bag limit.

  11. gus Says:

Great to see you Peter. You say things that are so NON-P.C..

    Me too.
