Take that, Debbie Stabenow.
President Barack Obama takes his first definitive stand on the issue of “talk radio” since last summer’s campaigning. Might want to print this one out, and put it in a certificate suitable for framing:
“President Obama opposes any move to bring back the so-called Fairness Doctrine, a spokesman told FOXNews.com Wednesday.The statement is the first definitive stance the administration has taken since an aide told an industry publication last summer that Obama opposes the doctrine — a long-abolished policy that would require broadcasters to provide opposing viewpoints on controversial issues.
“As the president stated during the campaign, he does not believe the Fairness Doctrine should be reinstated,” White House spokesman Ben LaBolt told FOXNews.com.
That was after both senior adviser David Axelrod and White House press secretary Robert Gibbs left open the door on whether Obama would support reinstating the doctrine.”

Since Earmarks are not Earmarks and a Lobbyist isn’t a Lobbyist and a Tax Cheat is not a Tax Cheat, I guess I’m not buying in and have to repeat myself…

Now, will he go on record to say that the FCC won’t interfere either through the regulatory and licensing process?

This statement regarding the Fairness Doctrine was made by a spokesman, not by Obama himself.
Fully expect Obama to relate that while he does indeed oppose the “Fairness Doctrine,” he will support the exact same thing if it’s relabeled something else.

I’ll believe this when Obama either puts forth an Executive Order prohibiting ANY Fairness Doctrine like rules or regulation OR vetoes any legislation containing such Fairness Doctrine regulation, which will likely be tacked onto a bill Obama really wants to sign into law.
