From Milwaukee County Exec. Scott Walker:
The members of the Milwaukee County Board still do not get it. Our taxes are too high. Yesterday, they passed a budget for 2005 with nearly a 3% increase in the property tax levy. Later, I held a press conference and announced that I will veto the levy back down to where it is for 2004. I borrowed a giant veto pencil from the Tommy G. Thompson display at Marquette University to “make my point.”
The full county board will vote on my vetoes on Wednesday, November 17. Between now and then, I need your help with two things.
First, please call your member of the county board at 278-4222. This is particularly true if you are from the Cudahy and South Milwaukee area - as Sup. Ryan McCue (who was previously pretty good on tax issues) voted for the tax levy increase budget.
