This afternoon, Glenn, Bruce and I had our sitdown with Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker. We covered topics from privatization of government services, taxes, gaming, Statewide political outlook and the big one that’s on everyone’s mind: JOBS and the ECONOMY.
It went smoothly and Mr. Walker carved out almost 45 minutes of his busy day to meet with us. There was more to talk about, but we were up against his next appointment, a contingent of four folks from a major corporation (not sure if I’m allowed to say which one) who had come to discuss the prospect of doing business in Milwaukee County.
Look for the first installment of our interview with Scott Walker early next week, if not sooner. In order to prepare an early comparison between the candidates, here is some audio of a quick interview with Lt. Governor Barbara Lawton by WTMJ’s John Jagler and Gene Mueller morning radio show. This interview, from August 18th, 2009, was before Lawton’s formal campaign announcement…but she does make it clear that she is a serious contender to succeed Jim Doyle.

re: major corporation
Are you saying [company name redacted] might already outsource from Dubuque to Wisconsin?

No. Just meeting with some of their people. That’s the extent of what we know. We weren’t privy to specific content of the meeting other than it was about luring business to Milwaukee. We were told of it as we were leaving, an aide said Scott didn’t want to cut short his time [he actually went 15 mins long], but he has a meeting with people from [company name redacted.]

The future of boat motors looks more promising, but if Milwaukee/Madison can make hay while the sun still shines over the USA, I’ll bring a pitch fork.

Roland,
It was a joke. I take full responsibility for my actions. I don’t believe it ruffled any feathers. If it did, I’ll take the heat for it. It’s no reflection on anyone else here.
