The Open Book LLC People’s Collective, a shooting star in the Shorewood local business scene, was run by ex-Harry W. Schwartz employees and funded largely by a taxpayer funded “loan,” announced earlier this year that it will be closing. As was reported by Doris Hajewski at JSOnline and commented on here at Badger Blogger, the closing was embroiled in controversy surrounding the fate of the borrowed funds and squandered membership dues. Since then, there have been additional inquiries as to the whereabouts of the Collective’s leader, Keith Schmitz.

Re-Opening Closed Open Book

Badger Blogger received word late this evening that the store plans to re-open under new management. An anonymous spokesperson for the collective, who sounded somewhat intoxicated and appeared to be calling from Major Goolsby’s, leaked plans for the grand opening ceremony scheduled for Saturday, April 10th in a phone call to BadgerBlogger this evening. The call was preceded by a pix message containing an artist’s rendition of the revamped storefront. (shown at right)

The Collective was apparently the recipient of a second infusion of cash from the Village of Shorewood under a program to assist Asian-American business startups. Wong Headed Ltd., a decidedly capitalist venture with Communist origins, is the listed recipient of the public funds. Badger Blogger attempted to contact the company’s listed CEO, Keith Wong, for comment but our calls were not returned. The non-response may be due to the complete unreliability of this story or the NCAA basketball championship.
