Citizens for Responsible Government is still digging into the OpenSky radio issue, and have uncovered some interesting documents… The MFD is moving ahead with this failed radio system, even though they themselves conclude that the radios and batteries are, “not intrinsically safe and posed a safety hazard to the Milwaukee Fire Department and the citizens of Milwaukee.”
CRG is asking Mayor Tom Barrett how many of these alarm bells need to go off before he reacts? When is enough, enough? We have spend over $18 million on a radio system that the officers on the street tell us, is still not working and they feel it is unsafe, no matter what the chief says at a press conference.
Our past coverage of this failed radio system. Open Sky

Well…
That’s not a good idea.
That’s a fight the MFD union needs to take up, and get the taxpayers behind them. More than labor contract issues like residency, wages, etc. This issue will get some of their members hurt or kiled.
