This afternoon John (@mkescan) reported that a Milwaukee Police Department motorcycle officer was injured in a crash in the area of 43rd & Lincoln. West Milwaukee police had no idea why MPD squads were racing through their community, thanks to the asinine OpenSky radio system.
John suspects, and knowing the area as well as I do, I agree that West Milwaukee, and even West Allis officers may have been able to help on the scene if they would have known that the officer was injured, but MPD insists on using a radio system that, even when it works, can be heard by no other agencies.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the officer and we wish him a speedy recovery.

Maybe someone can submit a radio trouble report. Everyone will feel better, even though nothing will change.

John reports that the paramedic unit was canceled, so the officer was not badly hurt, thank God.

Sure wish I had that on tape.
I bet West Milwaukee might of even beat MFD to the scene if they knew what was going on.
MFD canceled the Med unit, so I am guessing officer had no injuries or very minor. MPD officers do not take private ambos to hospitals. It’s a Med unit or another squad will take injured officer to a hospital.
The other night Franklin was looking for a guy in the area of 27 & Rawson, the guy lives close by and was in a fight or something, and owns a AK47.
Cops didn’t know if he was armed. Shortly after I heard that I heard Oak Creek cop over the air ask another ” you copy that on the scanner”
Franklin has the west side of 27th & Oak Creek has the East side of 27th.
Both departments use the county radio system, and even have each others channel in their radios so they can talk direct, instead of waiting for dispatcher relays.

Don’t have confidence that MPD’s dispatchers will relay anything.
