Mark Neumann is claiming that he is receiving “overwhelming support from Tea Party members.” But the reality isn’t so… Overwhelming.
The Wisconsin 9/12 Project, which is not affiliated with any of the TEA Party organizations, held an email straw poll of its members, and Mark Neumann received 62% of the respondents. What Neumann fails to mention is there were only 21 people that responded to the straw poll. Hardly overwhelming support.
And to give you another viewpoint on this group, they also show Dave Westlake leading Ron Johnson 90.5%-9.5% That is a laughable number, but it shows how far on the fringe the people that replied to this poll are.
So Mark Neumann does NOT have the “overwhelming support from Tea Party members.” Remember, the Wisconsin 9/12 Project isn’t even associated with any of the TEA Party groups. What Neumann has is the support of a very tiny group of people that are pretty far out of the Conservative mainstream…. Westlake with 95.5% C’mon!

We’ll see what kind of “real conservative” Neumann is after he loses the primary. Will he throw his support to Scott or will he be Wisconsin’s “Algore”?

I’d still like to know how guys like Kennedy and the GAB stooges can ignore a federal mandate without some kind of penalty.

Dave Westlake is also touting those numbers. I received an interesting tip, The Wisconsin 9/12 Project, and likely most of its 21 respondents, are in Watertown… Dave Westlake’s home town.

That’s an interesting tip, Patrick, but the only problem is that it’s not at all accurate. The Wisconsin 9/12 Project is based out of Madison, which is where all their candidate vetting sessions have been held.
What’s more, I’ve had contact with Kirsten Lombard from the 9/12 Project, and not a single one of the 21 individuals who responded to the straw poll are from Watertown.

@ Glenn and other Milwaukee Residents… I am quite suprised that you are voting for Scott Walker? As a Milwaukee Resident, I would be putting the Milwaukee County Executive seat at risk by taking Walker out and sending him to Madison. The potential likes of Lee Holloway or Lena Taylor could take over. Whatever taxes Walker might save you in Madison, Holloway will surely taketh away. How about having the best of both worlds? Neumann in Madison and Walker in Milwaukee…. A conservative utopia!

@murphyms…I agree that having a true conservative vacate the MilCoExec office is a problem. I’m personally not aware of any up-n-comers suitable for taking the job. Not saying there aren’t any, just haven’t heard of any. We will need to find one…soon.

Yeah, one of my favorite aldermen made a similar comment about Barrett. He said better to have Barret in Madison than in Milwaukee. You can probably guess what I told him. Fact is I’ll gladly send Walker to Madison and take my chances in a special election for County Exec. I’m not as sure as you seem to be that another conservative candidate wouldn’t be elected to fill the vacancy.

Neumann can’t even get the MJS editors to support him let alone the Tea Party.
I about choked on my Cheerios this morning when I opened up the Crossroads section and saw the endorsement for Walker in the primary.

When I was driving Jonah Goldberg to the airport this morning I told him that I sense an ever so slight move to the right by the MJS. Now don’t go nuts on me over that. They are still well left of center, but I think they see what’s happening and want to put a little distance between themselves and the lefties currently in power. I also think they’re having second thoughts about Barrett too. Now I could be wrong on this, but the last time I was wrong was when I thought I was wrong.

Glenn, you lucky dog. Goldberg is one of my favorite columnists/authors/goofballs. His trials/tribs regarding Cosmo (Squirrel Alert!) have been side-splitting.

Yeah, Steyn is great when he fills in for Rush. It’s always interesting and informative when I get the opportunity to drive/provide security for these people. A couple weeks ago I drove Dick Morris from the Milwaukee airport up to the Sheboygan Tea Party and then over to the Sheboygan International Airport after the event. I always take advantage of the opportunity to talk about the REAL Amercians who attend the Tea Party events and how appreciative we all are that these guys come to speak at these events. Every one of these people that I have had the pleasure of meeting/driving/providing security for is really down to earth and very accommodating to the people who swarm them for pictures and autographs at these events.
