A 13-ton piece of concrete that was improperly constructed falls and kills a teenage boy. None of us here at Badger Blogger knew the victims involved, but our thoughts and prayers went out to those who suffered this tragedy. Personally, I found myself imagining what the boy’s companions…his friends…his family were all feeling. I’ve seen friends of mine killed and seriously wounded in action. Reading and watching news reports brought back memories I’d prefer to live without. Last thing on my mind was…”how can I spin this to favor my candidate?”

What most reasonable, compassionate folks do is pray to their God, go home and hug their family or merely empathize with those who suffer. Reasonable folks can set aside their differences in trying times. As we learned, unfortunately, little time passed before the scheming began. There was a time when I couldn’t conceive of the kind of person who would revel in the death of a 15-year old kid…rubbing their hands together while letting their imaginations run wild over the highly contrived political damage that could be brought against a political opponent. I don’t know exactly when I learned of the true nature of some such men, it was a while ago to be sure. It just never ceases to amaze, and sadden, me.

Sure…there are those on the fringes of society who are capable of anything. But the conspiracy uncovered by a Walker campaign staffer and reported on by Dan Bice of the Journal Sentinel includes what most people would see as mainstream folks. For example, while I disagree with his politics, I wouldn’t have pegged Tom Barrett being in bed with political operatives at this loathsome level. Now that it has been shown that his campaign was likely tied to this, I’m re-evaluating my opinion of Mayor Mr. Nice Guy.

But then you get to County Supervisor John Weishan, a politico whose union support baffled me in the past. Perhaps to redeem himself after his refusal to share the pain of the furloughed working man, he has become a wholly-owned subsidiary of the labor unions. Signs of his alliance with the likes of the SEIU emerged a couple months ago when he and fellow supervisors Chris Larson and Marina Dimitrijevic were the public figureheads of a march in protest over O’Donnell Park. Mr. Weishan, meet thy puppet master, his name is John-david Morgan.

As for the “willing partners” in the media aspect of this…anyone paying attention with the least bit of skepticism already knew this about the fourth estate a long time ago. Granted, the “Y-Not II Tapes” as Mark Belling referred to them, would have been a story too big to squelch, it was refreshing to see the Journal Sentinel run it. For now, one pat on the back is all they get, however…unless follow-up to this story arises.

BOGUS ASSERTION

The Wisconsin conspiracy having been revealed amidst other “shenanigans,” this whole dust-up reminded me of a particular blog post by a local Milwaukee liberal zealot, Chris Liebenthal, aka “capper” (pictured right). For those who don’t remember this “extensive” waster of taxpayer money, “capper” never found a problem he didn’t try to link to Scott Walker. Too many weeds growing in a County Park? Blame Scott Walker’s budget cuts. A County bus picks you up 5 minutes late? Blame Scott Walker’s budget cuts. As I predicted a year ago, Scott Walker is up against a mob bent on one thing…winning.

The post was one I happened across a month ago while websurfing for coverage on the O’Donnell Park story. Liebenthal was doing his bit to organize people to join the dog and pony show rally to be led by MilCo Supervisors Larson, Weishan and Dimitrijevic. A march from the local SEIU office, ironically. The action in the comments section is where you need to pay attention (red underline added for emphasis):

Notice that the first commenter basically posed the question of how is Walker to blame for the O’Donnell incident. Liebenthal retorts that Walker has raided capital funds that would have gone towards inspections. When I first read that a month ago, I asked him to draw the connection of his asserted cause (raided funds) and the effect (O’Donnell incident). Either unable to or incapable of understanding logic’s role in a cause & effect statement, he deflected it by saying he had cited sources regarding the “raided funds.” At the time, I let it go. That was prior to the revelation of the greater conspiracy…the revelation that Democrat talking point generators, like Liebenthal, with direct union connections were having real influence, not on campaigns, but on manufacturing a plot that was to unwind piece by piece culminating in a text book “October surprise.”

A couple days ago, I returned in an attempt to see if ol’ capper had found any substance to back up his claim that some inspections were defunded as a direct result of something Scott Walker did.

Liebenthal claims proof of his assertion resides within this BizTimes.com article. Actually, that article refers to inspections done in the early 1990′s and problems found with the “support columns and pilings.” The article concludes by saying the architect was fired and $1.5 million was spent on repairs. It says nothing to support Liebenthal’s assertion. As you can see in the above comment clippings, I gave repeated opportunity to simply offer proof. In the end, nothing but snark.

As I’ve said before, there isn’t much you can get from Liebenthal that you can’t get from a 3XL t-shirt that says “I Hate Scott Walker” on it. Rather sickening to see this type in the mainstream of the Democrat party. Hope and Change.

Two little asides to this story:

Witness another “Progressive” blogger and his commenters who see nothing wrong with trumped up charges, specious calls for investigations and Democrat collusion from the local to state levels…bah, that’s just “strategy” to a Progressive. They’re just ticked off it got exposed.

Would it surprise anyone if I told you that John-david Morgan used to blog with disgraced Milwaukee County Supervisor Jim McGuigan…one of several Supervisors who were complicit in the whole Ament Pension scandal? Heck, he even wrote the blog’s comment policy where he said, “Political discourse is good for you!” Good grief.

It was clear since the O’Donnell incident that the Left intended to blame it on Walker.

What is LESS clear is exactly HOW they were going to do it, since anyone with the brains of a chipmunk knows that Walker didn’t build O’Donnell, nor did he have any reason to “inspect” it with XRays on a yearly basis.

The same sort of thing happened over here with the Wellstone plane crash ( Somehow Norm Coleman sabotaged the plane) and the I-35W Bridge Collapse ( Somehow Pawlenty could have prevented it but didn’t want to increase road funding enough).

Fortunately, most people don’t buy into the very stupid conspiracies. What I see as the bigger problem is the smaller lies that are repeated over and over (mostly by people who don’t think they are spreading lies) until they become “fact”.

If you had to choose ONLY ONE.
    Which would best describe CRAPPER.
    1)fat
    2)stupid
    3)dishonest
    4)all of the above.

  4. gus Says:

Btw. You all do understand that Chris Liebenthal…CRAPPER….got FAT on your tax dollars.
Maybe if the fat slob had taken a pay cut and a dozen less cheese burgers the County could have SAVED LIVES!!!!!!
    I blame CRAPPER!!!!

  5. PCD Says:

Maybe as Governor, Scott Walker can put Crapper and his ilk where they belong, THE UNEMPLOYMENT LINE!
